Default Trade Nights?

This will be my first National and so I don't know much in the way of goings on. Is there any word on any trade nights? Official/unofficial? And if so where, thanks.

There is another "official" trade night Friday night as well at the Crowne. If like last Chicago the remaining nights kind of move from hotel to hotel.

hearing a rumor that the national card convention board of directors will be calling any hotels where they hear unofficial trade nights pop up at to have the hotels stop the unofficial trade nights

How do they have the authority to do that?

Heard a report from Sports Cards Nonsense Podcast that the NSCC board may have threatened the surrounding hotels to pull their blocked room deals of the hotels if they didn't stop the lobby trade nights. I still find it hard to control, especially if it packs out the hotel bars and restaurants, like the one at Loews.

Look, we are Illinois and we have "pop up parties" on the regular. Can't stop us. Yes, most pop up parties involve "pew pews", but pop up parties are gonna happen in this God forsaken state. Just what we do.

That doesn't seem like much of a threat?

Like the hotels will probably sellout regardless with or without their room deals. It will only hurt the people who are attending the show cause they will have less options for cheaper hotel rooms. It'd be the NSCC cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Who cares about room blocks? Convention visitors will stay there anyway because they’re just across the street.

I mean if they tried to enforce this there are number of excuses that they could give to hotel security as justification. Loitering and creating a public nuisance would be the most obvious ones. But every single one of them would do nothing but piss off people.

If the National wants to curtain this, the only thing you can do is provide more company sponsored events. Right now the only one is the CardCollector trade night and that is one day. And even that won't solve most of it.

Card Porn posted a few days ago that the National is NOT going to try and prohibit off site trade nights.

It would be awesome if after the show each night (other than sunday) they offered a giant space with tables and chairs in the convention center. It would be free if you had a ticket that day or $5 a person with no ticket. Have food and a bar with stuff for sale, so the convention center could make money.
There problem solved! Lol
