With all the McDavid, Bedard, Kaprizov threads that are going around I figured I’d start a thread for collectors of more obscure players.

I guess obscure player collections are in the eye of the beholder. We all have our reasons we collect certain players. My Schenn and Gustavsson PCs were started when they were the future of the Leafs. My main pc focus is for players from my province of Newfoundland and Labrador, outside of the popularity of Newhook and Mercer right now, and Ryder and Clowe in the past I don't know if any of them were ever heavily collected outside of NL, including Cleary and John Slaney.

I did pick up a team issued OHL card for a player from NL recently that screams obscure player, and it is from the year the Greyhounds won the OHL Championship and went to the Memorial Cup.

Enforcers of the 90s and any goalie cards. I like seeing how goaltending gear has evolved and I like the tough guys.

He just started getting cards, but Owen Pickering. I work for the Swift Current Broncos and have seen every single one of his WHL games. Was at the NHL Draft with him in Montreal. It's been awesome seeing his growth from his rookie season to now.

Most of the players in my UMaine collection are pretty obscure.

Always wonder what someone is thinking when I buy a player like Dustin Penner, Teddy Purcell, Niko Dimitrakos, Eric Weinrich, etc.

Currently working grabbing one of each UD Exclusives of every UMaine player (both YG and base card). Good progress so far, so maybe I can snap some pics for this thread.

Bryan Marchment's cottage was just across the lake from me. Use to see him quite often out jet skiing with his buds when they'd go through our point regularly. (Crowe Lake, Marmora Ontario)

Not really obscure in the true sense of the word but my largest single player hockey collections of any players are John Tavares and currently Philip Tomasino.
I don't hold a candle, however, to WillyC's Tavares collection, but I do own quite a few.

I got the base, the gold and the decagons auto, with the regular decagons incoming. Still need the gold auto and black auto /10. The Decagons auto is a sharp looking card, UD did a great job with these.

Not enough images in this thread so I'll show progress on my UMaine YG Exclusives and YG High Gloss trackers.

The Howard Fall Expo I have listed isn't a High Gloss per se, but it's probably as close as I'll realistically get to it. Have a Swayman Star Rookie High Gloss #/10 and that's probably as close as I'll get to him as well.

I will eventually have to update the layout of this to include Gary Thorne as well since he has 04/05 YG Canadian Exclusives (#/25, #/10 & #/5) but never seen any of them.

If anyone has any of the ones I'm missing, please shoot me a message I would love to acquire them!

Crazy how the rookie of Peter Stastny is affordable, for a great goal scorer like him. I have a few in my Nordiques PC, I love them.
