Default What kind of neighbors do you like living next door?

If you live in a situation where you have neighbors, what kind of people do you prefer living next to you?

Professional people?
People with kids?
Quiet people?
People who party and socialize?

What are your thoughts and what do you like or dont like from your neighbors?

Three of my neighbors have the codes to get into my house/garage in an emergency, or if they need to borrow some tools. I have their codes as well. These are the neighbors I have and want.

People who mind their own damn business and help when needed, nobody likes a nosy neighbor.

Agreed. I see/talk to my neighbors probably 2-3x a month. It’s perfect.

Anyone who doesn't leave their dog barking continually while they're out. I'm talking nonstop up to 10 hours straight each day with 30+ vocalizations each minute. So glad when those scum of the earth neighbors moved away.

Ditto. Mine are the same. They've made my life easier and have helped me out several times over the years.

We live in a very small town. It's very nice to be able to leave on vacation for a week and as neighbors we each take care of the snow on each others driveways, make sure the furnace exhaust is cleared out or feed the cat if needed. Had my brother come out to my place when we were on vacation once and I had a call within 5 mins from 2 neighbors that they saw someone they didn't recognize around the house. Gotta love that.

None. The house I'm looking at has 25 acres and no neighbors for a long distance.

No I do not want to hangout, no you cannot borrow anything and no I don't want to watch your pets while you are gone.

Ones that do not talk to me. I do not want to know the people that live next to me. All I want is them to stay on their side of the fence and I am happy. This is only for neighbors that live right beside me.

I have rental houses on both sides of me. They are not going to be there long and no need to know or have problems with them.

My neighbor keeps to himself. We talk when we see each other but we aren’t friends. He’s a car guy and a great person but he has his friends z as d family and I have mine. He is letting me store my fun car at his second garage for the winter. We have a shared border so we talk about how we want to decorate it(neither of us want a fence but we both want a living boundary). In six years he had borrowed my chainsaw twice. He gave it back the same day both times. He asks for nothing aside from the chainsaw occasionally, he doesn’t want to be hanging out except for if we are both outside already. He isn’t nosy or obtrusive. He is the perfect neighbor for me.

It's funny, I love my neighbors and we do favors for each other when needed, but sometimes I just want to have a cigar and bourbon on my patio and not be bothered. That kinda extends to my wife and kids too, so I can't fault my neighbor for chatting me up too much.
