Surprised we don't have one yet unless I missed it. How we feeling about the boys this year? I think we had a productive off-season and am excited for the season to get under way.

I'm having the familiar "wow, we actually have a pretty decent pitching staff right now" feeling that I usually get before 4 starters pull some muscle I've never heard of and are out for 4 months. On the other hand, if German and Montgomery keep dealing the way have been, Kluber and Taillon stay healthy, and then Severino comes back in a timely fashion, this is going to be a fun year. Never mind Deivi, Loaisiga, and maybe Clark Schmidt by mid-summer. But I always seem to think this way in spring training and it never pans out... |

Totally agree. Even without Severino the rotation looks beefy as hell. Seeing German, Monty, Garcia and Loaisiga all excel this spring has me looking at AL pennant futures prices pretty closely. I think losing Snell knocks Tampa down a bit. Whitesox look strong but their pitching depth isn't like New York's IMO.

Don’t see Yanks making it out of AL to a WS this year. Gary and his .180 and horrid defense will continue to be a piano tied around the team’s neck. This is a man who has sunk below the Mendoza line in two seasons now. They have no reliable arm in the rotation behind Cole, except perhaps Monty. Deivi could become another back end of the rotation starter, but that still leaves the team short of the #2 starter they’d need to be a real contender. Kluber and Taillon just don’t inspire any confidence given their recent injury woes... Which segues into the elephant in the room, namely the sluggers’ health. There, again, the past does not inspire confidence— though they certainly have a chance to find the health this season that eluded them in years past. Then there’s Severino, another unknown.
Just lots of “ifs” and question marks for a team with such massive resources. They made the “win now” move of investing in Cole, then slammed the brakes on that philosophy by passing on what would have been huge upgrades in areas of concern. I have a sinking suspicion Hal is content with B+ teams that will be just good enough to make good money, but he doesn’t want to throw down what it takes to become a real winner again.

I don't see all the doom and gloom that some Yankees "fans" continue to see. Gary doesn't hit, nobody is healthy, no pitching... All that applied over the past two years and the Yankees did better than almost every team.
Every team has question marks now and every team is in first place on the first day of the season. The Yankees haven't had a losing season in more than a 1/4 century and there is a reason why ... They are the Yankees! I don't see another team right now in the American League that matches them right now. Might not have the best lineup but how many teams are better? Same with their rotation, and bullpen. Factor in Cashman, their farm system, available finanances. If they need to make changes, they will. I will watch every game and I would assume that they will be favored in 98% of them because they are and will be the better team. Go Yankees!!! |

The pitching behind Cole looked better in Spring Training than I thought it would. Hopefully that continues into the regular season. They still have too many young and injury recovered arms though, so I wonder how pitch counts will affect them to stretch them out for a full season and for the playoffs.
I still say Sanchez should have been gone. Hopefully this is the year he finally proves me wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. |

It looks like German may edge out Deivi for the 5th spot with the starters being Cole, Kluber, Taillon, Montgomery, and German.

Luke Voit to miss beginning of the season due to knee surgery. I swear, you can't make this stuff up. I guess I shouldn't have expected them to start the season with their full lineup but this is getting old.

So Jay Bruce will man 1st base now it seems. Hopefully he gets off to a good start, if not I could see him getting released when Voit makes it back.

I mean it’s only spring but if those guys all pitch like they have in camp they could run away with it IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will be watching Frazier closely, hopefully he shines. Gleyber needs to pick it up. Regular season champs again probably, then burnout in first series

Expecting to cruise into the playoffs. A big year for Judge as he needs to prove that he can stay on the field. We all know that when he's on the field he's an MVP candidate. Hoping Gleyber bounces back. Last year kind of felt like a fluke for him. He can definitely hit! Will be fun to see Frazier finally get the chance to start. Would be nice to see Gary Sanchez hit above the mendoza line this year!
As for Deivi Garcia...I was sad to see him demoted. He was outpitched by German this spring, but I'm sure he'll be up before you know it. Go Yankees! |

So too early to say Sanchez might actually have it back this year?
