my favorite years in the hobby 2001 / 2005 / 2012. how about you?

My favorite years in the hobby are as follows:

2001 - I decided to chase rookies for the first and only time.
It began when I started to work on 2001 Fleer Futures Black Gold #499 parallel set
I read that 2001 Fleer Platinum Rookie Edition would have cross brand RC's, including 10 Fleer Futures cards including Pujols & Ichiro
Further bat barrel autos insert at 1 per 3
So I bought 3 boxes on ebay, pre order, pre release.
It turns out, I didn't do a good job of studying the press release, because the RC's I was chasing were retail only, and I bought hobby.
I hit the worst possible bat barrel auto - Mike Sweeney. Typical.
From getting those 3 boxes, I got 1/3 of the rookie edition [50 cards were short printed at 1 per 6] I decided to put together the platinum short print set
and then the parallel set # / 201.
and then the lumberjack bat relic set.

2005 - First I decided I liked 05 Donruss Prime Patches, and started accumulating cards
Second, I decided I liked 05 Donruss Throwback threads Polo Grounds inserts and Studio portraits inserts and Sportscasters inserts, so started accumulating all 3. Eventually I decided to just concentrate on Polo Grounds.
Third, I decided I liked 05 Topps Finest, and it would be fun to work on a master set of Blue Refractors $/299 and X-Fractors # /150
But eventually I decided to see how far I could get in base ref / X, Green ref / X, Gold Ref / X, and Black Ref / X
Also, I picked up the Adrian Beltre Superfractor, so decided to do the rainbow.

2012 - I decided to put together the 2012 Flagship set, and each year since, I have expanded that project, so I am kinda sorta working the Master set. This is to honor a lifelong friend, who was a set builder, who I ripped a Hobby box of series 1 with, and the next day he passed from Cancer he had been fighting for a couple of years.

I liked the look of 2012 Panini Prizm - 1st year of prizm - so I went for the base set, and then decided to build the Green Parallels
