Just saw he’s the newest college football analyst for ESPN. Word on the street is that apparently he’s pretty good.

His failure as a pro QB - not to mention his subsequent difficulties in life - tend to make people forget that he was a fantastic QB at WSU. I bet ESPN has multiple clauses in his contract to make sure he stays on the up-and-up or they can fire him in a heartbeat, but I hope he does well.

He is going into the WSU HOF this season too. Dude been through some serious stuff due to immaturity and bad decisions, but has really pulled himself together and is using his experience to benefit himself and those around him.
Great interview on sports radio also. DP and Jim Rome are two that come to mind fairly recently. Good for him.

Glad to hear he’s turned over a new leaf. Can’t wait to see him manning the booth.

Seen him on a few talkshows the past few years. Actually seems pretty eloquent and insightful.
Glad he's turned things around for the better. |

![]() ![]() This card was able to accurately predict he'd do some time in jail. But, seriously, I'm glad he's back on track. When listening to him speak, it's clear he's an intelligent person and is contrite about his mistakes.

That's so cool to hear, I heard he taught reading and writing to illiterate inmates while locked up. He also has a fiancee and a baby.

good for him I hope it goes well. man I still remember opening packs in 1998 with the Leaf & Manning buzz. Man were people ecstatic to high something Ryan Leaf. I remember drooling over that 1998 Topps Stadium Club Marino/Leaf Co-Signer dual auto

JUUUUUUUUUST Because I want to.......
1. Marques Tuiasosopo > Ryan Leaf 2. Ryan Leaf to this day got screwed in that Rose Bowl 3. Good on him on the new venture, still wish he was coaching as he has knowledge, but I know that day was abit ago as well. GL to him! |

I’m not the biggest ESPN fan these days but kudos to them for making this hire. Seems like Ryan has worked hard for this opportunity, taken full responsibility for everything that happened to him and is actively helping others to not go down the same road he traveled. I think he will do a great job.

quorthon, if you ever want to move the Rave let me know.
Leaf deserves all the past criticism he's received for being a grade-A DB. Because he was. I knew him a little when we were both freshmen in 1995 and then seniors in the amazing 1997 season, 1998 Rose Bowl, year. I'm happy to see he seems to have turned things around. He's slowly getting back into the good graces of WSU as well. I honestly never thought they'd let him into their HOF. I thought he was great on the PAC12 network over the last year or so. He's pretty good at the analysis and commentary. I hope he does well in the new job. |

I gotta say, for the first time in a long, long time I actually am shocked by social media in a good way.
Normally whatever the topic, trolls and hate take over within moments of an article or post. As someone who has appreciated the human journey full of faults this guy has been on, I expected this to be 2 pages of detestable, rude, sarcastic comments. Kudos to this group for supporting a guy trying to get his life together, not bashing him. ![]()

This is awesome.
Years ago I bought a Ryan Leaf figure and have been displaying it in my sports room as a gag. Now I can display it knowing he turned his life around, hopefully he stays that way. Great job!

Gives you faith in the good old human race that an ex-con/ex-drug addict/ex-dbag can make good doesn’t it. This is a serious post by the way.
