Default Buyer Wants To Have Item Sent To A Different Address

I sold an item. However, buyer sent message stating the wrong address is on their file. Will Paypal let me change the address? If not, how can I send to their new address?

Nope.

Don't do it. If he's dead set on doing it, tell him you'll have to cancel the transaction and refund and have him edit his address in paypal then re-purchase. But I wouldn't trust him at this point.

I would normally say don’t do it, but sometimes it depends on the circumstances. I just moved a couple months ago, and did not have internet for the first few weeks at my new house. PayPal would not let me change the address from my phone so I had to wait until I got internet back.

Now, I did not make any eBay purchases over the time I could not change my address, but did make purchases on here. Everyone here was understanding and shipped to the address I wanted, and not the PayPal address. I am sure that was because of the amount of feedback I have on here, and I was mainly dealing with guys who have worked with me before, all I am saying is that there are sometimes valid reasons to have shipped elsewhere.

The other reasons I have dealt with is someone not wanting it to go to their house, and instead their place of employment. This is usually because they don’t want wife/significant other to know how much they are spending.

I would ask the guy why it needs to go elsewhere, but ultimately it is safer to cancel the transaction and move on.

If the address and correspondence is documented on Ebay via messages, you should be covered, even if it's different than the address under Paypal. Or at least that's what an Ebay CS rep told me a few weeks ago when I called regarding a similar situation. You should call Ebay CS and ask them to verify that and then consider your options. Assuming this sale was on Ebay of course.

Also if you cancel the transaction, you'd eat the 2.9% + 0.30 Paypal fee due to their rule changes. Just something to remember.

Never trust an eBay service rep. They lie.

wouldn't do it either. google the address and sometimes you will see negative posts up about that address from ebay buys. had some guy do that with an address in del. be careful.

That is not true. It will cover you from getting a neg, but it will not keep you from losing the money. That CS is wrong, they are good at telling you what you want to hear.

It is against Ebay rules for a buyer to ask a seller to ship to a different address.

I just dealt with this. It was a buyer with very few fb that hadn't had any transactions in a couple years, so it was obvious to me they just weren't very active. I told them I wouldn't be covered as a seller and they understood so we did end up having them cancel the first transaction and then after they updated their address, re-listed and accepted the same offer. Turns out they were honest and polite about it, so you never know. The main thing is communication, if someone is honest with you it's pretty clear.

I've actually been told the same, although in my experience, the buyer made two separate purchases and two different addresses. I asked if I could ship to the same address for both and was told as long as the buyer in a ebay message agrees or asks for it. In this case with the new paypal rule where they don't refund the 2.9 anymore. I'd just say no and ship it to the address that ebay or paypal says.

I've sold an item that the buyer asked to be sent to a different address. Turns out it was his office address. He didn't want it sent to his home address because he didn't want his wife to see. All went well.

It depends. Is it a high value card? How’s the buyer’s feedback? Did they give a reason for the address change?

Buyer has 35 feedback. Some positive feedback as recent as April. No negative feedback in their prior purchases. Item was a $10 hat. Should I still cancel?

You can refund the buyer and they will be able to resend payment with the correct address.

If they are unwilling to do this then cancel.
