He is probably the top RC in this class so no.

Yikes 3 errors. That's not good.

That could be a significant number if he stays on pace for 1,744 errors this season.

Even tracking at 3 errors per game I would’ve had to have pulled number 0486/2024 to have a significant number. This site has some tough fans.

Only charged with 2 in the game. Has 3 on the season.

The apparent work with Soto this off season doesn't seem to have translated to in-game success yet. Thankfully Giancarlo Stanton didn't work with Soto during the spring. Only player with a higher K-rate than Elly.

That's right, they ruled one of them a hit, which easily could have been ruled an error. He is way too casual out there and it will cost them if it doesn't change.

Out of curiosity what is considered below average? He has 0 RBI and a 50% K rate vs mostly spare pitchers. Should be an interesting matchup vs wheeler

I mean, if you watched the game last night, it was driving rain the whole night and freezing temperatures. I'm not judging the defense on that game.

I watched it fwiw. Rain had nothing to do with the second one (I guess I could see first being slippery).

I know you talk about being a pitcher, but have you played infield? Flipping the ball out of the glove to start a double play on a slowly hit chopper is normal. And if you've done it, you know sometimes the ball catches the tip of the webbing on the way out and that happens. It sucks, but it looks worse than it was.

I'm not looking for an argument. And I recocgnize quite a few routine plays have been booted. He's not playing great defense, save for the spectacular plays he sometimes makes. Just that the video you showed doesn’t show how bad that rain was, and I'm not about to judge him for that game.

As far as the defense I just see them making him an elite CF. Seems like he could really excel with speed/arm combo and Maybee little less pressure at the plate.

Played IF, Coached IF...Elly's lack of focus was the main issue here. The glove flip looked really lazy and a bad idea in that specific situation too. His half-hearted throw to first, same thing, looked lazy. I watch the Reds all of the time and I have yet to see anything spectacular on defense from Elly...maybe a hard throw once or twice. What I have seen is he can make a routine play not so routine. He is not the SS of the future with this team, Arroyo probably is. So, where does he go from here?

Carlos Jorge has all of the tools to be the starting CF by 2026.

Elly is athletic. There are a lot of guys who can run fast and "look the part". The biggest problem is that he doesn't play the part.

I don't care at all if Elly is a superstar. I just want him to be a good player on a good team. Questionable defense and a K rate north of 30% doesn't last long in this league. How long can he hold out on hype alone if things just don't get better?

If he doesn't start making some big improvements at the plate, position fit conversation will become irrelevant. Hard to play anywhere as a below average hitter and fielder.

It was very lazy and that's what made me the most mad watching it.

Man, another huge error in a tie game with bases loaded.

Looked lazy on the flip after he struggled to get it out of the glove.

Can't blame the weather tonight.

It was frustrating right after he had a chance with the bases loaded himself and 2 outs down 1 and didn't swing one time and struck out on 4 pitches.

It’s a breath of fresh air that his play on the field is affecting his prices and not some off the field activities. I don’t collect him but have pulled some nice cards of his that I will hold in hopes that he figures it out.

Over rated prospect who had one month of being on fire when called up since then he could not hit off a t-ball stand.

Last year striked out 37% of his AB's this year even off to a worse start at 50% of his AB's. He's sure looking like another guy who will in couple years probably be traded to another team as a throw in on a trade and become a career backup.

Probably but at least people aren’t knee deep in collecting him only to be sideswiped by something they never saw coming.

It’s early, but he looks like the same player he was last year. At least Fanatics can hang their hat on Jasson, who has the luxury of not playing this year.
