Finally saw the replay of the ball that hit the third base ump. Also saw the video of him chirping at the ump in anger.

We all love the passion, but I will confess that it is a little surprising to see him being so outwardly demonstrative.

There was a time with the angels that people said he looked too nonchalant and didn't seem to care. I guess he cares a lot more when the win means something

Ha, that was never going to happen with the old squad for sure.

I had my fill of swagger growing up watching Kobe.

It's one of the things that has endeared me to Judge. Massively talented, but low key almost all of the time.

In the Disney documentary, Darvish said (with no translation filter) "I was surprised he has such a deep greed for winning." Plenty we don't see off the field but he's clearly trying to spark the dodgers. That's what they need.

Judge is great. I love stoicism too.

I want to move on a few Sho cards that are not cheap, but I also want to see if they make the NLCS so I don't miss a potential discount. I think others are in a similar boat.

Yes it’s a wait and see moment. If they advance most likely due to something Ohtani does the cards will show a slight increase. If they make it to the World Series certain cards will reach untouchable status.

Yeah the font on the slab looked a bit iffy to me but I don't know.

I have been pretty lucky on some cards I bought in 2021. Some of my mid end purchases like this one became high end! Many others you can buy at the same price today.

FYI-My definition of low, mid and high end (not sure if yours is the same).
Low end <$100
Mid end $100 to $1000
High end >$1000

Trueblue High end seems to be 10k or more

The person to get advice on about Shohei Ohtani RC cards is trublue!!! My opinion is this is a great card. It is an insert of Bowman chrome (not from its own sterling set). So this card will never have the pedigree of a numbered Topps Chrome or Bowman Chrome RC card (Or even Topps finest and maybe Bowman's best). At the same time I will tell you why I think this card has potential to go to the moon one day!

It is one of the few RC that has Ohtani both hitting and pitching (the 2018 topps gold label is another good one). It is numbered only to 150 and its an atomic refractor (which Topps does not make any more). For me this card is very unique and one I think mid to high end collectors would love to have.

In terms of investment potential my guess is most on here would recommend a numbered Topps chrome or Bowman chrome RC instead.

My opinion absolutely does not reflect the market and I will also add that I didn't start out buying $10K+ cards. I had to slowly build and consolidate upward. Collect what you like and don't overspend. One day, maybe I will be like TBP and pickup a 52 Mantle .

Another angle on the sterling insert is that it gets a big tailwind effect from the auto version (same image) that is out of reach for most collectors ($20K+ in Gem). A numbered non auto option gets that overflow of "can't afford the auto" demand.
