Last night screamed of the Bills circling this game as their super bowl while the Chiefs just had it as another game where a team was going to bring out all the stops to beat them. I think both teams make the playoffs and the Chiefs will beat them in the playoffs again rendering this game forgettable for everyone outside of Buffalo.

Let's also not forget the whopping that Tampa took last year against NO which shot them in the arm and took them all the way to a super bowl victory.
Always good to be optimistic.

How quickly things can change in the NFL.

Got paid?

The Chiefs defense is trash. Imagine trying to score EVERY time on the field because the defense is letting the other team score on every possession.

Look at these passing stats for Buffalo...
Allen 15 completeions for 315 yards... 20 yards per completion?
2 catches for 69 yards
3 catches for 115 yards
3 catches for 55 yards
3 catches for 54 yards

Yea I'd be laughing my ass off too on the bench and asking myself "I could play defense and it wouldn't change anything..."

The amount of panic sales that hit eBay last night is pretty comical

Here's their remaining schedule:
@ Washington (Win)
@ Tennessee (Win)
v NYG (Win)
v Green Bay (I have this down as a Loss but both teams are flawed and it's a toss-up right now)
@ Las Vegas (Win)
v Dallas (I have this down as a Loss but will be a shootout. Buffalo's defense is way better than Dallas so really it's another toss-up)
v Denver (Win)
v Las Vegas (Win)
@ LAC (Loss)
v Pittsburgh (Win)
@ Cincinnati (Win)
@ Denver (Win)

Even if we throw in two bad losses, let's say @Vegas or @Denver, and with them losing the toss-up games (GB & Dal), and losing again to LAC, that's 10-7.

I don't really see that as "optimistic" - they'll be favored in all the games I have them marked as winning (barring injuries), and could be favored against Dallas and GB.

After that pass to Hill went right through his hands and into the defender for a pick 6 Patty was definitely saying WTF last night.

Here's what I think is going on with the Chiefs:
  • Defense is terrible
  • Running game is terrible
  • Opponents are pulling out all the stops to beat them (using plays and schemes that they haven't shown on tape at all yet)
  • Obviously KC knows this but still came out underprepared for the season - most likely they thought "hey we were fine last year, we'll be fine this year" but didn't realize how much teams would ramp up to prevent them from getting to 3 SBs in a row

I have no idea how they fix their defense (can they make a mid-season trade for a difference maker?) - but I have no doubt their offense will start clicking soon and it might start clicking at the right time with no lulls for the rest of the season (aka 2020 Tampa Bay).

I'm all about being optimistic (I definitely needed it yesterday!), but dude, the NFL is not that easy. The Chiefs have SERIOUS concerns that have nothing to do with Mahomes - there is no one guy who can make everything okay. And he hasn't played great against their toughest matchups this year, either. Just chalking up two wins against the Raiders and Denver, plus the Titans, Steelers, and Bengals? I'm not seeing it. Depending on how WFT's defense plays on Sunday, that may be a tough game.

Year in, year out, the NFL is TOUGH.

Never mind that TB's defense was LOADED with real talent across the board.

Teams are forcing them into long drives instead of the big plays. They have to string together long drives to score and haven't been able to at this point.

Man, just chalking up sweeping the raiders and Broncos, and wins vs the Titans, Bengals, Pittsburgh, Washington, it's not going to be that easy. Do I think the chiefs make the playoffs still? Yes, however remember last year the Broncos were in the game at Kansas city, 22-16, with Lock at QB. The Chiefs defense is horrible, and it's not like I see it magically becoming a good defense this year. This is what a lot of people discussed with the Chiefs, all these offensive players, little help on defense.

The crazy thing to me is the turnovers by mahomes and the chiefs. Didn't expect that

That isn't the problem... They're averaging 30 a game. The issue is the defense that is letting other offenses drive down with ease and comfortability.

Let me be very clear on this... The defense is the issue here.

Yeah, it's tough - that's why I factored in 2 bad losses into the 10-7 record.

Washington defense is trash. People look at their stats last year as some good defensive team, but they only played well against back-up QBs. They're not good.

Cincinnati is more improved than probably anyone thought - but in a week 17 game with playoffs on the line I'm taking Mahomes and the Chiefs over Burrow (if he's not injured) and the Bengals all day.

If Tennessee plays their best game all season while the Chiefs play worse than they did against Buffalo I could see it being a close game.

The Packers took care Pittsburgh handedly and I don't see why the Chiefs won't do the same. Big Ben is showing us that he should've retired 3 seasons ago.

I know it's overreaction Monday, but the Chiefs lost super close games to the Ravens and Chargers (most likely 2 playoff teams), and beat the Browns (borderline playoff team) and Philly (bottom-dweller). Aside from last night being the first bad loss of the season, they've competed against top tier competition and beat the teams they should beat. My W/L guess for the end of the season plays by these same rules (erring on the side of 2 losses to teams they should beat).

I agree with the above, but I've got to be honest, I've been selling some of my "lesser" graded Patty rookies/inserts: (optic base/R&S stellar, jersey cards, etc...) Still keeping my graded rookie auto's.

I think it's going to be a rough year: little room for error because the defense can't stop anything, the need to score every single drive, and the receivers.

That INT was Hill's fault, but just like every other QB, it still counts against Patty.

Is it time to officially worry? Not yet, but it's getting close.

This has been the play for the last year, regardless of the Chiefs' record.

20 points and 4 TO didn't help the defense. The offense was crap as well.

They are just not as good of a team this year. Mahomes and the couple offensive weapons are keeping them competitive, but the rest of the team is mediocre at best.

Think I'll avoid this thread until next Sunday. Sad how many people that never post in this thread suddenly appear after a bad game.

Agree, but now, it feels different.

Last night, I did not get the vibe the Chiefs were coming back. At halftime, I knew the game was over.

There are going to be some amazing takes this week that will be fun to revisit. Already several.

Chiefs had the 2nd highest scoring offense coming into last night with a 2-2 record. Fingers point to Patty as cardboard stans want to pump their guy as the next one, but doing so is just poor analysis. People gonna be people (aka be illogical and irrational)

Wow…someone listed a Blue Wave 10 for $10K OBO…I realize the Blue Wave gets very little love, but that seems like complete and utter panic…

The Chiefs offense isn't crap... We all know this.

TO's don't show the whole script. They've scored 42, 33, 24, 20 and 35; to me they're moving the ball with ease. The TO variance is hitting them; 8 turnovers in their two lowest scoring games = poor point production. Turnovers for ANY team turns into poor ppg
