I really don't think they'll pay him what he wants.

Yeah, I'm not too hopeful either. Of course I go back and forth between the fact he's already 30 so how long a contract do you give him and the fact that he's the face of your franchise and the only one doing anything during your slump?

And they'll use all those arguments, plus every other team is going to at least call him.

He turned down a 7 year contract for 30M/year at 30 years old? what is he wanting?

And the guy is the nicest and most likeable player they have. Watching a Boone press conference is painful; full of excuses. Judge always says the right things when the press push him about his individual accomplishments or why he or the team is slumping.

Whatever it is, it went up. Maybe he wants an 8th year or have options to take him to 42 like miggy or 65 like Pujols. Only takes one owner to say yes. Anyone going to argue he should be paid less than Rendon? At this point, I'd say he's less of an injury risk than Trout.

He knows someone will get into a bidding war with NY. He's not stupid.

In my humble non-professional, non-salary negotiations understanding mind.......

Yeah, he knows he has 5-6 years left so he wants as close to $50M per year as possible for that stretch. Now, does he have it in him to be Bradyesque and play above 35 in tip-top form and perform like he is now? Love the guy and all but I want to say he is not going to be the next 40+ rock star MLB player still hitting 40+ dingers at that age. I could be wrong but not seeing it.

I see 6yr, $40M per or 7yr $45M per from the Yanks.
Another team might cross that $45M line but don't see the Yanks going that far unless he single-handedly wins them the chip this year.

Someone will give him an 8th year, maybe even 10 or 12 with options to reduce the AAV. There's no way he's not getting more than the Yankees original offer.

Anything above 7yrs will most definantly have to be heavy-sided for performance and incentives.

Some team offering him say 320 for 8 would not shock me in the least. Now 500 for 12 would be the stupid contract.

All this talk about $$ and how this dude will make bank either way.

All I need is $10K a month for the next 50yrs to be at peace financially. A mere $6M would do it for me.

Maybe I should try out next spring - Do you guys think the Yanks need a 40yr old pitcher throwing heat at 50MPH? lol

Considering he gets maybe 2 or 3 pitches a game to possibly hit one out is pretty amazing, especially when every player batting around him is offering no protection, today’s protection was Lemahieu and Hicks with the way they and Stanton are playing and you throw in Rizzo and Benintendi out of the lineup I am amazed he gets anything to hit at all.
