Mike Trout (knee) progressed to on-field running on Monday at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.

It’s a significant step forward in Trout’s rehabilitation process from a bone bruise in his surgically-repaired left knee that sent him to the injured list back on May 2. The 33-year-old generational talent remains without a firm return timetable, but he figures to be getting close to heading out for a minor league rehab assignment.

Was Mike Trout placed on another 10 day IR where his return is now in late May ? I know the guy likes to come back healthy but let’s be real, being 100% isn’t going to happen. Sometimes you have to eat the soreness or pain. Dale Murphy had horrible leg issues in High School with 40 less years of medical advances.

Mike Trout (knee) told reporters he won’t require a minor league rehab assignment before being activated from the injured list.

Trout added that he didn’t experience any soreness after jogging on the field on Monday and his final hurdle before getting back into game action will be running the bases, which figures to happen at some point in the coming days. The 33-year-old superstar is working his way back from a bone bruise in his surgically-repaired left knee and it’s theoretically possible he’s back in Los Angeles’ lineup at some point before the end of May.

"Mike Trout said he ran at 80% today," Fletcher reported. "Still has to run the bases."

It's Trout, so probably another 4 weeks.

A couple years ago when he was injured, he didn't do a minor league rehab stint, jumped straight into a MLB game as his first game in months, then promptly re-injured the same injury during that game and was out the rest of the season. I think that time it was a fractured wrist or something.

When is the last time Trout met an expected IL stint? When I hear 10 days I expect at least 1 month minimum.

It seems like there were a ton of Mike Trout rookie price tracker threads during the COVID boom. Would be fun to see the exhibit in this thread get updated>>https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1278754

I’m not tracking but I would think prices came down from this Spring after the injury. We will probably never see anywhere near COVID highs again.

I am pretty sure this statement would be true for pretty much all players except Ohtani and Judge.

What other players reached the highs Trout did? He was a unicorn… head and shoulders above the rest.

I am referring to Covid prices for players. Besides Ohtani and Judge...I don't think there are any other players that didn't peak during Covid.

Ohtani and Judge are worth more now than during Covid.

Last two sales were 3200, and 3400. As of last month.

As always, kids, please stay off the drugs. This is a drug-free thread.

Thanks!
As of today, any team that would accept Trout and his $37+ Million per year contract would need to be on some heavy drugs. If his health / availability is constantly horrible now, it will only become as ugly in the upcoming seasons.

I’m not sure he even reaches 2,000 hits. When this thread was started everyone was talking about outdoing Mickey Mantle, etc. Now it’s about struggling to reach 400 Home Runs and hoping his teammates carry him into the playoffs.

The Dale Murphy example that was criticized in 18 is now becoming less of a mockery and more of a reality.

Mike Trout (knee) is scheduled to run the bases early this week.

It’s the final hurdle that Trout needs to clear before returning to Los Angeles’ lineup. The 33-year-old fantasy superstar, who is making his way back from a bone bruise in his surgically-repaired left knee, will need to do so multiple times before the Angels go ahead and officially activate him, but it’s possible he makes his return at some point later this week.

And I may get a call to pitch the 9th for the Rockies tonight.

I hope Trout returns soon and stays healthy, but recent history…

So many people compared Trout to Mantle during his early years. And just like Mantle, Trout has been plagued by injuries as he got older. The difference is that Mantle played through his injuries and continued to produce. We can't say the same for Trout.

Nobody plays through their injuries today. In any sport. There is too much money on the line now.

Ohtani played in the World Series last year with a partially dislocated left shoulder.

Bryce Harper often plays through injury.

Lindor has a lengthy history of playing through injuries, including playing the entire season with bone spurs in his right elbow. As soon as the season ended, he had the surgery.

There are tons of examples of modern superstars playing through injuries. It's complete rubbish if you do not think many of today's stars play through injuries. I guarantee just about any player playing 140+ games today often plays through their injuries.

Freddie Freeman is also playing pretty well right now despite having only one good ankle.
