Here is what Google AI says…

“Mike Trout is making positive progress in his recovery from a bone bruise in his surgically repaired left knee. He has been able to swing the bat without issues and is now working on running on a treadmill and the field. While Trout won't be ready to return from the injured list on Sunday as initially hoped, he is optimistic about his progress and is looking forward to starting running soon.”

And Ron Washington previously said they would have a better estimate of a time table as to when he will be back once he starts running. Hopefully he doesn’t have a setback.

In other words don’t be shocked if it’s another 10 day IR if he feels anything in the upcoming workout / running. He had done his time on the 10th. If they put him on again I’m not sure his IR time would go from the 11th or the day it becomes apparent that he isn’t ready to play.

He'll be out the rest of this week, he hasn't started running yet. Probably a 20 day dl stint.

Mike Trout (knee) went through on-field agility drills on Tuesday at Petco Park.
Trout remains without a definitive return timetable at the moment, but the fact he’s progressed to on-field drills suggests that he’s not too far away from heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 33-year-old superstar has been swinging a bat without any issues, but hasn’t been able to run at full speed yet. He’s been out since April 30 after suffering a bone bruise in his surgically-repaired left knee.

If Mike Trout reaches 508 plate appearances “121 as of today” it will be his third highest total over the past 9 seasons.

I would be absolutely shocked if he ever got to 500 PA again.

there is always some kind of new injury with trout. he will come back from this one in a few weeks, then something different will pop up.

I wonder when he will finally get tired of rehabbing injurys? If I had hundreds of millions banked, I would really consider stepping away. it must get frustrating at some point.

Hopefully Trout will decide for himself that being a primary DH that is available to play games is better than a corner outfielder that is always hurt.

He learned from Anthony Rendon that you can just pretend to be injured all the time and collect hundreds of millions.

How does the MLB contracts work when a player retires. Does the team still pay for the remaining years of the contract or does it get voided? It would explain why Rendon just keeps going and being hurt.

MLB contracts are essentially 100% guaranteed. This is why all the talk about Trout hanging it up early is just nonsense. He can just sit there and get injured every year and collect his $35M a year. If the team wants to do something and Trout agrees they can figure out some kind of buyout, but they're going to pay him most/all his money and he is not going to retire a day sooner than the end of that contract unless it's medically necessary.

Right, that is what I looked up as well. If he does retire, the active salary does get voided out. So Trout has 37 million incentive to push forward every year and collect that money. Miggy basically did the same thing his last year. He was basically retired, but his salary was 45 million. Easy to show up and be a bench coach, and partial DH for that kind of money.

Dustin Pedroia did the same thing. He (and everyone else) knew that his knee injury would never allow him to play again, but he kept "rehabbing" until his contract expired.

Let’s clarify the record. At age 33 Miggy was “only” able to play in 159 games with 679 Plate appearances earning $28 Million. Mike Trout is 33 years old. At ages 38-40 Cabrera averaged 113 games and averaged only 443 plate appearances earning $94 Million / averaging $31.3 Million.

2025.

Mike Trout's Joey Gallo and Bo Bichette's Alex Cora.

Please take me back.

By the time Mike returns the Angels may have a winning record ? The Angels are playing good ball against some of the better teams since Trout was injured. They have not laid down and called it a season. 8-8 since injury but 7-5 in last dozen games.

Angels are playing really good. I think having a rightfielder who can play defense is really helping the team.

any word on trout? He/Team made it sound like no big deal when it happened. 10 day IL.

all the sudden he has missed 16 games and it still looks like there is no date.

Par for Trouts course, I guess. He has to be the slowest healer in history

Here is Google AI’s answer when you ask it “When will Mike Trout return?”

Mike Trout's return timeline is not definitively set, but he is making progress in his recovery from a knee injury. He has begun hitting off a machine, throwing, doing agility on the field, and running on an Alter-G at 75% of his weight. While these are positive signs, there's no specific date for his return. Sports Illustrated reports that he is making slow progress

No update since Tuesday when he moved to agility drills. I would expect any day this week, interesting there has been no word shared.

Doubt no news is good news in this case.
Remember when Rendon was out (which year, right? lol) with some kind of bone bruise, then the Angels announced a couple months later out of the blue that he actually had a fractured leg?
