for future reference.

Only time will tell who makes better decisions. CSG been around 1 year. Got lucky with timing. Hope CSG/CGC dont confuse luck with good business decisions.

In fairness, PSA isn't exactly lowering prices. They're reintroducing a service that's been unavailable at a higher price than it was before it shut down.

Have CSG started to grade non-normal sized cards yet?

I have a few minis I'd like to send off

They definitely grade minis. The only drawback (in my opinion) is that they put the mini cards in a sleeve inside the slab, and this doesn't look as good with the crystal clear CSG slabs.

With PSA coming down to $30 for group subs, hopefully they start the lottery Queue soon for CC members at the $30 rate. If they have a lower minimum cards to submit I think this will hurt CSG alot. If TAT is 4-5 months, That is not horrible.

Say $30/card, 10-20 card minimum.

CSG would probably not drop their price now in response, but I am hoping they drop minimum required. 35 card min??

If PSA starts doing their registry deals again (less than $20), and alot of it...70s baseball, etc.. the PC of using CSG might not even go much higher than it stands today.

I still have 150 cards shipping, or ready to ship to CSG, but as PSA bulk is coming back sooner at least submission wise, sooner than later, CSG will need to prepared to lose business or counter.

Ugh. I'll see if I can find an example on eBay. I've never seen one in the wild. Cheers for the reply!

Just submitted 50 cards at the $10.80 bulk level and getting together another 50 before prices go up.

I really hate how CSG nickels and dimes you though. Is a $5 handling necessary? $2 for each auto is insane as well, should be incorporated into the price. Thick holders for $5??? WTF? There would be lots of auto cards I would send at $10.80, but at $12.60 I am thinking about it. Think cards for $5 more? No thank you.

Completely agree. It's no secret I'm a CSG fan, but my biggest gripe is all the add-ons. You would think for the membership fee plus the grading tier fee that would be enough. The thick card fee particularly irks me

I am in agreement. All of the little add on’s are terrible. I will only grade thick cards with them that are PC items for my Kirill Kaprizov collection. The auto grade for $2 did not bother me much, although I would prefer to not pay it. I don’t know where CSG will eventually land, 2-5 years down the line, but I totally prefer the look of their slabs for clarity, no company compares. I have a 50 card sub that should arrive on Wednesday. Also, you can input submissions into the system before July 5th and I think you have until September to get them to CSG at the old price.

CSG takes top honors for me and before anyone say what about the ROI, I own, last I checked the only 10’s of the card.

The hobby has changed tremendously and the fact they will not even begin to grade these new submission until after the backlog is complete, maybe august/September tells me the majority of these submissions will not be back in the hands of submitters until November/December, past the baseball prospecting season and deep into the football season. They are simply priming their card pump to have cards to grade. I am sending my own cards in now and therefore PSA currently is not on my radar. For most it is ROI or bust. I still prefer the best looking slabs in the industry. It is not even close when it comes to clarity.
Not sure why you are @'ing people and making things personal. Aside from the clear shills for CSG that exist here, most people in these threads are just looking out for the hobby and trying to make informed decisions. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and their belief that one company is better than another doesn't make their opinion invalid.

As far as why I'm looking at the hobby only from an investment side, I cannot really take your statement seriously. You have continuously talked about ROI in every other post you make. You say that PSA has the best ROI. You said in this very post for most its ROI or bust, so I really have no idea how you have your question to my post. It is important as you clearly recognize, and there needs to be a price point that makes things sensible for those people. There's been enough posts in these threads that show CSG sales in comparison to PSA, so don't act like I'm taking some weird stance here. It's disingenuous at best. It really bleeds of your bias.

As far as CSG holders go versus PSA, I will take PSA all day. I've always preferred PSA holders. Until CSG holders grow on me, I will continue to holder mine with PSA. Could there be a day when that changes? Sure. But for now the price point and integrity of the company are not worth the submitting price. They really need to do something that stands out instead of attempting to mimic other companies, like the $2 per Auto grade that BGS had. BGS really only gained market share because of their RCR service which they could offer at all shows across the country.

As far as the end of your post regarding why do you care? Well, I'm in the hobby. I care about things hobby related. I also care about when people and companies scam customers even though I'm not directly involved, I am certainly indirectly involved. So that @'ing is really far off and childish. It matters not if "some of those people commenting would still not use them if the price dropped". Everyone is entitled to their opinion and the right to comment.

Best of luck with your submissions. I won't be submitting with CSG anytime soon and if the belief that CSG is doing anything that primes them for any bit of market share is pretty nearsighted. They've gotta do something to stand out, and they better do it FAST.

All their divisions charge a $5 per invoice handling fee. It's definitely annoying.

I have noticed, though, that I don't often get charged the $5 fee for thick cards. I *never* select the thick card option when submitting, and I think I've only been charged for a single thick card out of maybe a dozen I've submitted.

I haven't been charged an additional $5 for thick cards - mostly because I don't take the time to measure the thickness before sending in so I never select it on the submission form.

But also - the thick CSG slabs are awesome and are probably worth the additional $5.

Does anyone happen to know if I upgrade to Elite, will they extend my membership a year our will it run concurrently? I figure I should go ahead and upgrade since CSG will be getting the majority of my low dollar cars.

I believe it extends, since you did not get the benefits in the past. I did the $150, then waited 3 weeks and realized I should of done the $250 to get the 10% off last year. I could have said $180 on the first shipment.

Just call, when i was a big supporter of CSG and CGC.the accounting department is really easy to work with.

I made two accounts last year to get the 15% discount on subs at that time, when i called them, they said i should have just called first and they could have just adjusted, pro rated, the first account.

===>>> The accounting department is really good and work with users.

77 card bulk order arrived 5/18/22 & shipped back to me 6/8/22. 3 week turnaround. 26 were 10s, 25 graded 9.5, 20 were 9, 5 were 8.5 or lower, 1 ungraded. Mostly ultra modern & modern cards.

I feel like I may be the same boat. The 10% off is a bit better after the price increase as well. I was expecting to go in and "upgrade" my membership level for $150. It just shows join elite for $270 which would make sense if it prepays for another year. That seems like it would be more confusing and than forces the question is if you only get the discount starting next year?

I am going to run some numbers and figure out how much I am going to submit in the next 6 months. Probably break even so easier to just wait it out.

For new people it is best to first sign up for the premium using CSG99, I think it is still active. You get $150 credits for $99. After that, they will give you the $276 Elite discount and you get another $150. For $375 you get Elite and $300 credits.

What is the break even point? Well if we are talking about elite, you will pay for the membership as soon as you complete 100 cards in bulk. I am sending in two 50 card bulk orders, possibly a third before the fee hike. Which I believe will be very temporary. If you do two bulks you save $4 and if you complete 3 bulks of 50 you save $64. Nothing earth shattering, but even with two bulks, it makes sense.
