I'm a huge Luka fan, of his game, but the Mavs are better without him. They play with so much more energy at both ends. They rotate and cover well on defense, and cut/move well on offense. Very little stagnancy at the offensive end and no laziness/slowness at the defensive end.

Not saying Luka isn't incredible or needed, but his conditioning/effort are SEVERELY hurting this team and creating poor flow and lack of cohesiveness among the players. It also clearly hurts their confidence and comfort. No pace stand and wait to shoot is no comparison to fast-paced in-rhythm jumpshots - and clearly evident with Luka out.

He can generate all the open shots and be a magician on offense, but what good is it if he's a black hole on defense and emotionally all over the place every game.

Hopefully he can focus and correct his mind/emotions and condition his body to be lighter/quicker.

Let me retract that, I didn't mean that part and honestly wrote and didn't proof read. Take that back

But Luka's conditioning and emotions are the key to the Mavs success. If he doesn't correct either or both, they will continue to fall.

Important, but not the biggest problem.

KP, THJ, and Bullock have taken 469 threes and are shooting 30.3%. That’s your #1 problem.

Of course it helps to be in better shape. Luka's issue isn't necessarily getting faster (and of course that would be great if he adds speed). But his game isn't built on that.

The kind of conditioning Luka needs to focus on is being able to stay on the court longer while remaining effective.

I think it'd be a great experiment to have Luka back with the current squad and keep THD and RB benched ... but we know that won't happen with those contracts they have...

The important thing is the Mavs are 4-4 in this recent stint without him. That's kinda what the Luka fanaticals should want. Them to hang around.

And the 4 losses were to
vs the Lakers by 3
@ Minny
vs the Bucks
@ Utah

Gotta give them a pass for hanging in there without the guy that is their entire system.

I don't think Luka's conditioning is as big of a deal as people make it out to be (looking at his stats, what could you actually ask him to improve with conditioning?) but watching some of his highlights makes me think the Mavs should ask Luka to do whatever he did in prep for the bubble. That was peak Luka physique IMO.

Yeah sausage fingers needs to be better just as much as his teammates.

Far too many silly shot attempts trying to draw a foul or complain to the ref instead of getting back on D.

I just had a look at their payroll again. Man, they could lose Brunson if they don't have the spare change.

Bullock and Hardaway are chewing up a lot of dollhairs for too many more years.

Ya hate to see it. But as cold as this team has been, they can get juiced and run hot. Which I think they will.
