Apologies for what might be a dumb question, but do we know if there will be 1st Bowmans in this Bowman Chrome X release?

For $150 just buy a card you want, instead of taking a risk on random, encased, card of a player that has only played one or less seasons at the top level.

At least with other products you can spread your money across several cards, but this is an all-or-nothing lottery ticket with very little possibility on return for most people.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold up! Buying singles is smarter than opening wax?!

Ummm, its not 2015 bud - only prospects and rookies in BCX

This. If you look at singles values for the graded cards from last year, the lack of value speaks for itself. Cheap gimmick product.

Baez 99.9% won't be in this. Only 100 card checklist and limited to RC and prospects.

Still pretty good chances of getting a card #/5 or less. But yeah it is a gamblers delight.

Not exactly what I said, I never said smarter. This isn't about intelligence, it is about preference.

In this case this product won't make sense for most collectors because this is a single card for $150 with most not even being autographed. You won't get several cards to help diversify the cost like you get in most wax. This product only makes sense to those that collect sealed wax.

I don't see that anyone will pay more than $150 in 5 years for this sealed product as more and more players from the checklist will disappear to obscurity and you will only get a single card. So to make any money you have to open now, but that won't make sense for most as they will realize they wouldn't pay $150 for a single prospect or RC in this checklist ,no matter the serial number.

All it takes is one player for wax to carry value

I am sure it is a fake sale but looks like a box sold for $360.

Forgot about that. Regardless, I like the design.

Oh well, we'll see how it goes. Good thing I'm not in it to make money, but I would like to pull a nice card. I'd even take a nice non-1st of a good prospect.

Here is the checklist:

PR for product is about 3570. If this goes public there will not be many boxes unless many MC members pass.

Nope you are talking about one guy when you can get multiple cards to diversify the cost and giving you a better chance at hitting that one good player. This, with one good player, only gives you a 1:100 (not factoring in autos) at hitting that player. A wax with one card can not be carried by one good person

I agree with this in principle, but I also know there are plenty of people out there willing to take the risk at higher than $150 if they can't get their hands on these. If not, the overall risk at $150 isn't worth the pass IMO. So many degenerate gamblers buying cards these days...

If this were 2009 Bowman Chrome X and you had a 1:100 chance at a Mike Trout, these would be crazy expensive on the secondary market.

I understand what you're saying but odds that all 100 players flame out is slim. If this was Trout, Ohtani, Betts, Tatis, or any other star players rookie/prospect year, boxes would be $500 plus already for a chance at their bowman refractors serial #'d to 31 or less, plus autos. If there are no allstars, that's different.

It's also nice that the checklist is split between rookies/prospects and that will lessen the burden of hitting the lottery on a draft pick.
