Someone needs to make a meme about being stuck in Assembly.

Type: VALUE MAX - 15 day turnaround
# of cards: Just 1 card
Arrived: 3/3
Order Prep: 3/5
Research & ID: cant remember
Grading: cant remember
Assembly: GREEN checkmark since last week... still waiting

IF I'm probably 10-ish business days into the 15 day time table, most will be in Assembly!

Yikes! I thought my 11+ days was a long time, but guess I shouldn't say anything.

Ha! Just posted this morning two posts up and just got the email, it just straight up tells me the grade (10) and asks for more money. Price to grade went from $60 to $130. I'll take it. Shortly after approving of the up charge they let me officially reveal the grade on the app. That specific communication and update was very quick.

Both my recent sports card subs (Value Plus and Value Max) completed before the estimated date. I wonder if the quickness is because its NOT TCG.

I would love it if they were moving through sports cards quick right now! Have one sub that's waiting to move out of "received" of 29 cards since the 7th, and just sent out another sub yesterday that will get there tomorrow of 26 cards, and those moving quick would be a boon for me. I did Value Bulk, which means I'll be waiting a while, though, I think.

Holiday Bulk Grading Special
# of cards: 26

Arrived: January 3
Order Prep: ?
Research & ID: ?
Grading: February 18
Assembly: February 26
Assembly Complete: February 28
Grades Ready: March 19
QA Checks: March 19
Complete: (originally estimated April 7)

Gem 10: 12
Mint 9: 12
NM 8: 1
EX-MT 6: 1

Did better than I expected--about half of this submission were thick, PC cards (Exquisite/Flawless/National Treasures basketball), and I hadn't had much success with thick cards recently. The 8 and 6 were expected--both were thick cards with issues. Very pleased overall.

Add me to the blue check assembly list. Two orders that are at 9 days in blue check assembly. Last year when you hit blue check assembly the grades would pop within 1-2 days, seems it is 1-3 weeks now.

I've been in green check assembly status for 12 days and counting. Lol

Mine got the checkmark a couple hours after hitting Assembly. Doesn't seem plausible to get done that fast. Starting to think it means Alfred brought your graded cards to the assembly staging area where they sit behind the other 100k in the room. No real rush on my end but wife did say she wouldn't complain about going to the NSCC if I whacked one more bill and had the cash in advance. A couple more orders popping should do that.

I guess I won’t complain about being in Assembly greencheck mark status for “only” a week now.

i complained to the upcharger on two back to back upcharges that PSA is being way too liberal in their upcharging process, but said you have me by a vice, so I "accept."

PSA rep responded that these will be approved.

Usually it automatically flips to QA1/2 or final...still stuck in assembly checkmark 48 hours later

Likely because I complained...

part of that complaining continues to be due to getting absolutely sh*t on Topps Pristine uncirculated cards that have a high gem rate yet I still somehow keep getting 20% returns on this set.

Just ridiculous.

Kind of an odd question, but does Research & ID take less time if the cards you subbed have been graded before? For instance, PSA has never graded a 2012 Prizm Vet Autos Jordy Nelson base /10 before, but they have graded a 2014 Prizm Jordy Nelson Tie Dyed (both of which are in my first sub). Does the vet auto take longer to research and ID since they've never gotten one before? Or do they do the same amount of work no matter if they've graded that specific card/variation before? Not that it really means anything either way, just curious.

If a card has never been subbed to them, then yes it will hold up your entire order while that one, or multiple cards are properly researched, and entered into their database.

Thanks for the info! Guess I should have subbed that 12 Jordy auto and 13 Prizm Rodgers Cornerstones Purple in the second sub so it didn't hold up the first... Oh well, nothing I can do about that now. Hopefully it doesn't equate to too much more time.. Second sub I think I had at least 8 cards that weren't in their database, so that one might take a bit longer.

He's not wrong, but historically this is an inconsequential amount of time for products with good checklists. I would assume Prizm stuff is well documented. It seems I have one or two cards in almost every order that have a pop zero and none seem to move any slower than others.

Since you are grading new additions to the population, make sure to check the descriptions thoroughly when you receive the "Review Your Order" email from PSA. It is much easier to fix a label error early on vs after the order is complete.

Appreciate the further insight!

I should state, it depends if it's a card that is in their database already that is pop 0 because no one yet has deemed it worthy of grading, or if it's a card not in their database that you manually have to fill the details out for when making your submission. I was referring to the latter.

Default Rogue Graders

PSA definitely has rogue graders on their payroll. Recently got back a 50 card submission (that I had carefully pre-screened):

PSA 10 - 7
PSA 9 - 25
PSA 8 - 18

Totally unwarranted. Never had a submission come back with such low grades. These were all pack-pulled chrome cards from Topps that had been looked over. I've submitted many orders over the past years and maybe at most one or two PSA 8s for modern cards, with the rest split between 10 and 9. This is totally strange results. Just had to vent. I'll probably crack all the 8s and resub them, probably get half come back as 10 and half as 9...and to add insult to injury, they upcharged me on one of the PSA 10s to $75 for a card that recently sold for $200 in a PSA 10. PSA is a joke.

I'll be so happy when a better company takes the place of PSA in terms of valuation.

Had 1 order stuck in assembly for almost 2 weeks now

Have a bulk order arrived in Dec, still in Research with expected completion date of tomorrow

Sent in 2 value max cards (first time using $50/card service because they were so nice) got PSA 8's completely blabberghasted. Immediately cracked and sent to CSG and they just popped as Mint 9's.

Just a normal week of PSA nonsense.
