We rag on him a lot, but credit JKidd for leaving Luka in the game after he picked up his 4th foul. Probably saved the game, esp wo Brunson. Carlisle would have yanked him for sure.

Do 'we'...

Pretty sure its just this thread's biggest troglodyte kraldog who wanted Kidd fired the moment he was hired.

He also stated multiple times that Porzingis sucks, well actually, stated multiple times the entire roster sucks.

When a loud-mouth internet nobody uses this type of language to describe professional basketballer's you know immediately there opinions are worthless!

I understand this is a Luka investment thread, and you get some incredibly bad takes and obviously ulterior motives but a real Mavericks fan is very happy right now because you have a winning franchise locked in for the next decade.

Good to see Luka the next GOAT finally back. Near triple double in a good win against a quality team

Don’t think you could be any more obsessed with me if you tried.

Good to wake up to the W. Looking forward to watching today.

Free throws really helped in the first half when they couldn’t buy a bucket.

Luka getting the “too #@#@#@#@ing small” tech is so stupid. Shouldn’t be anything wrong with trash talking.

Hope Brunson is okay. Zubac landing on that foot how he did was not a good look.

Mavs are fifth best in the league in wide open three percentage, but third worst in open percentage. The differential is almost 14%. That’s crazy.

Curry is the front runner, but long way to go.

This guy is most definitely in the picture along with Durant. I like Morant, but he’s not there yet. Lot of ball to be played from this point on though.

Agreed. Ja over Giannis or KD is laughable.

MVP race is likely going to come down to team success.

If Dubs are the #1 seed by a wide margin, it's gonna be Curry. Same with Nets/Durant and Bucks/Giannis. No way any of those guys is winning if their teams are in the 7-10 range (where the Bucks are right now).

If Mavs/Grizz are top 3 in the West, Doncic/Ja have a good chance.

But Mavs/Grizz are just as close to 1st in the West as they are to being out of the playoffs.

Long way to go.

Luka isn’t even top 5 right now. Anyone who thinks so doesn’t watch basketball.

Lmao. I just posted the odds. He's fourth regardless of what you believe.

Luka is playing better on the defensive end this year, offensively he is starting to pick it up. I think he has a shot. Other than Giannis most folks top 5 play Harden like defense.

The current Vegas odds are heavily influenced by him being the preseason favorite and betting dollar leader. You can’t honestly think Luka has been more valuable than say Curry, Giannis, Jokic, Durant, Butler, George, or Paul. He’s not had that kind of start to his season.

The Mavs did just go 0-3 with no Luka.

They were competitive in all three games. And two were against the hottest team in the league. Let’s be honest here.

DAL probably would have split that 2 game series with PHO had Luka played but that's the way it goes. They were competitive without him which is good but not good enough. They averaged 97 PPG in his 3 game absence and 105 in the 14 games he's played.

They're winning close games minus those 3 games without Luka which is a good sign. They struggled the last couple years to close out those type of games. They're also 6-1 at home which is another good surprise. They've been a better road team than home over the last couple years. Good to see them turn that around. A lot of that has been because Brunson and KP are playing better. They're a good team if they can fire on all cylinders. Right now DAL looks like they belong in the top 4 of the West, maybe even top 3 if they can get back on a winning streak.

Dont disagree with this.. but I think it has less to do with Luka playing poorly and more to do with how many players are playing out of their mind currently.

I think it's important not to fall into the trap of assuming that betting odds represent "smart money", and definitely not based on precise assessment of value contributed so far.

Doncic looms large in MVP talks because we all see the route for him to get there, but to this point this year, things haven't been working that well for him on the Mavs.

If things continue as they are, I could see a future where Doncic ends up leading his team through the post-season in a way that cements his reputation as "best player in the world" despite not actually being anywhere near the literal "most valuable player" of the regular season.
