Yeah, I think part of their appeal is the mystery behind how many there are. They seem to be quite rare. I'll see if I can crunch some numbers.

Picked up two $9.99 Topps Opening Day blasters at Target tonight and got this nice surprise.

So how rare are the rainbow chrome ones then?

Those aren't numbered for some reason either and are way better looking than the gold/blue/pink/camouflage cards.

It seems like those are more rare than the gold cards (according to my pulls) so one could assume maybe the rainbow chrome is around the same level or rareness as the variations?

I'm not sure about that. Hobby odds for Rainbow foil are 1:10. Hobby odds for SSP variations are 1:678

Hobby only:
Acetate = Hobby only
Checklist: 350 subjects
Acetates odds: 1:1,007

350*10 = 3,500 total cards
3500 cards * 1,007 packs/card = 3,524,500 total hobby packs

3,524,500 total hobby packs / 36 packs per box = 97,902.77 total boxes / 12 boxes per case = 8,158.56 cases

Platinum hobby odds: 1:29,141 packs
Cards are 1/1

3,524,500 total packs / 29,141 packs to find Platinum = 120.9 cards

^^ This means 120 Platinum cards were inserted into hobby. Rest are split between retail and jumbo <-- this doesn't help me...not sure why I picked platinums

Black hobby odds: 1:102
Black Print Run = 66
350 subjects * 66 cards per subject = 23,100 total black cards

3,524,500 total hobby packs / 102 packs per black card = 34,553 black cards inserted

^^^That makes no sense

_______________________________________

Ratio time - won't be as precise as it assumes both card types are distributed equally across the 3 product types. Can't verify this is true without finding Jumbo pack odds...but I digress:

Memorial Day Camo Print Run = 25
SSP Print Run = ???
Memorial Day Camo Hobby Pack Odds: 1,165
SSP Hobby Pack Odds: 678

1,165 / 678 = 1.71 (factor)
1.71 * 25 = 42.9 copies
X = 42.9 copies

Veryfy with another parallel

Father's Day Powder Blue Print Run = 50
SSP Print Run = ???
Father's Day Power Blue Print Run Hobby Pack Odds: 582
SSP Hobby Pack Odds: 678

582 / 678 = 0.858 (factor)
0.858 * 50 = 42.9
X = 42.9 copies

Looks like the Bat SSP is limited to ~43 copies

I dont have much confidence in this number. Just looking at the black border /66 hobby odds at 1:102 (hobby and jumbo exclusive), Topps may allocate more of one parallel to one product than another. I'd need more info.

Opening day is impossible to calculate as the odds for SPs include the more common SPs and the more difficult to find SPs.

I think he crushed it but it had a ton of top spin. Pitchers have no way to pitch him. Come inside and he does that.

If I'm being honest, I've been grabing 2017 Bowman Green Chrome auto packs for `$15 ish when they pop up. Definitely not resealed. I've hit some decent stuff so far.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it supports pack searchers. I don't have any hobby shops around so I have to settle.

EDIT: Had to make sure, but the above is funny because Severino's #41 is: "Youngest Yankee in 100 years with 11 Ks."
This guy right here
