It started at 11:00. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to my car and about 15 minutes to drive to the other building. I also wanted to help setup which I did.

She did make some good BBQ pork. Her BBQ sauce was a little too hot for me though. The rest of the food was good too.

There were much more powerful people at the potluck including my friend, the Program Manager, 2 of the Program Office personnel, and our area Vice President. Of course, we took some photos as they are big into that. Probably like to say they went and saw the minions at the sites.

I did strike up a good conversation with one of the program office personnel, Lucy, regarding college opportunities. She's going to forward me some of the colleges that give discounts to our company as my attempt to have Excelsior evaluate my stuff has stalled.

With all of the time down the fire house due to the funeral stuff, I didn't have time to make macaroni and cheese so I just bought some cupcakes from the store. Someone else brought macaroni and cheese anyway.

That sounds like something you would do. I had 2 small plates at the potluck and was good until dinner at McDonalds in Colonial Beach before the parade.

I went straight to the parade from work, so I already had my outfit packed in the car the night before. It was one of our fire department t-shirts since I was representing them, so it wasn't hard to pick out.

Yeah, I forgot to put an out of office message on all 3 system e-mails before I left. Anyone who is important already knows I'll be gone though.

The video from the Fireman's Prayer ended up being an hour and 20 minutes long. It's the longest one I've attended yet. It failed to upload to Facebook this morning, so now I'm uploading it to my YouTube site and will just share it on the fire department site.

I made my decision about the IRS job. I talked to my friend and PM Friday at the potluck and told him about the offer. As a good leader, his answer was that I needed to do what was best for me and my family and not the company. he also asked me if I needed more money and I told him my decision process had nothing to do with that. After a good 10 minute conversation, I told him that I was going to decline it and stay with the company. Some of the concerns I had about staying, he alleviated. Having to pay for my military service to gain an earlier retirement was a huge con and turnoff to me for the new job.
