Set 1-96 Price: $24975

Lots of good deals to be had. We're right in the middle of a normal market pattern. Original buyers had a cost basis of $17 per card. It's much easier to sell when you're up 30x. We're seeing the 2nd generation of buyers obtain cards, which have a cost basis in the "hundreds" per card. You'll see those that bought in too high begin to dollar cost average their positions, and then you'll also see people holding for longer because the amount of their investment needs to increase by a higher $$ amount.

Everything that was ending at auction today has not had bids in 3 days. All those people are not going to pay. All those cards will be relisted plus any people holding. Prices will settle at 2 to 3 times MSRP for most. I think Trout Ermsy settles at 400 to 500.

Of course. A card with an actual following. A card that was from an actual baseball set, not a set that was made up to help fill the void of other sets during a year where there isn’t going to be baseball. We’re talking about one of the most iconic cards over the last 10 years of one of the games best players. Huge difference.

I think the Project 2020 adjustment may be a catalyst for the hobby to realize that everything is overvalued.

Does a 1985 USA McGwire PSA 10 at $4000 make sense?
How about base card PSA 10 of ANY current star of the last couple years of over $300 make sense.

Does Panini listing their products on their OWN page at 5-6 times of retail make sense?

I think to many people's chagrin, we are going to see a correction all over the hobby very very soon.

I think we’re already seeing some of it. Cards seemed to have taken a dip over the last week or so. It could be the fact that the reality of no season is starting to set in or everyone focusing their attention to P2020 allowing other stuff to go unnoticed. Not sure, but only time will tell.
