Soooo a guy on ebay says he wants to trade his Weapon X Comic Gold Superfractor 1/1 for my Cavillrine Gold RayWave Auto /50.... am i dunce for considering it lol?

My thoughts are; Cavill will likely sign more, this will bring down the value (plus its a sticker)

Supers are Supers, it should rise in value over time

I think they are pretty close in $ value rn but i don't have a lot of comps

Any comments/thoughts would be much appreciated

IMO the auto will have more future value. Seems Cavillrine was a one-off, and he's a popular dude (and Wolverine a popular character) that I don't see getting less popular unless he does something stupid or secretly does something weird

It's a sticker auto. Which means they will be sitting on a pile of them.

Tough choice, but would probably take the super. I'm shocked by how low Josh Brolin autos seem to be going, would think that as more and more Cavill's hit the market, will only drive prices down.

I get trade offers on ebay and I just don't understand how to execute them without saying "look, I need your card in my hands first before I ship this" which is usually a dealbreaker.

Raywave gold /50 auto has a huge premium in baseball, frequently more than the /25 and sometimes even /10.

All the points about the Cavillgeddon that is potentially coming or the fact that it's a sticker are all valid and I agree with them. But -- counterpoint -- 10 years down the road there might be a lot of Marvel Supers from different sets that make it less special as well. I see it as a push and would therefore stick with the card I pulled. Not make a trade is a choice but it's also not one you regret in the future when the other card skyrocketed in value.

I do agree it seems like a one-off but there will be more cavillrine autos for sure, how many more i have no clue but at minimum a few more sets this year alone i would think. As to your last point he genuinely seems like a good dude, a fan himself and very approachable which may cement his status but all it takes is some allegations to negate that

Yes, that is likely where this hits a snag but there is literally no other way its gonna happen with a low fb ebay user (he sends to me 1st). I did ask if he was a member here which he is not, if he were within a couple hours...but i think he's in TX.

Henry Cavill will continue to sign. Just look at what Fanatics has done to disney autos.
It's also a gold raywave /50, not even a true gold.
There are gold lavas /50 so in reality there are 100 golds lol Only 1 super.

But collect what you like!

In my humble opinion I’d trade for the Super. Also the auto is out of 50 & not a true gold refractor makes it a no brainer for me.

Oh for sure, as soon as i agreed to it he changed the terms so....

Hence why i had never before brought up an ebay trade scenario before as these are randoms just throwing out offers they rarely if ever intend to honor

I have made trades via the platform but that last one was maybe 10 years ago

Maybe it's just me, but I'm shocked Cavill prices are already south of $500. I'd argue he's probably a top five, maybe top three single signer, and it wouldn't even pay for two hobby boxes. Who the heck is buying boxes at these prices?

Check some of the other auto prices it’s kinda shocking. I got my best bubs hugh auto for $1300 all in…that is three hobby boxes. This was my main chase for the set

No doubt in my mind I’ll get my Henry for $300-325 soon

Looking at completed sales of autos from this set is kind of eye opening, most are like in the $10-15 range

Seems like a great time to buy if your putting the AU set together

X-23 autos going sub-$100. May need to pick one up.

Obviously the Ryan Reynolds / Hugh Jackman duals are going for $2k+, but was also surprised to see the following sale prices on dual Cavill / Jackman autos (all sticker):

/25: $930.85 (4/9/2026)
Base: $898 (4/12/2026)
/39: $890 (4/15/2026)

Two of the three sales were with DCSports87, who is a very big and visible seller with 1.3m feedback and 99.8% positive rating, the other was a pretty big seller w/ 50.6k feedback and 99% positive rating.

For 1-case nonsports breaks on eBay, I will always set my max bid at ~$10 less than the current price of a base auto of that spot. I have not won a break spot in almost a year. I have also not been upset about this as singles are definitely the way now.

Is his insane popularity simply because he played Superman? I know of nothing else the man has done, but people go crazy over him. Like, when he showed up in the movie I think I was the only person who didn't jump out of their seat. What's the guy's draw?
