Is international higher than out of state? That would be a new wrinkle. Makes sense, though, given the abiding logic.

Perfect story for this thread:

Was asked this week if I wanted to peer review an academic journal article submission. I agreed (it's directly related to my field) and received a copy of the paper.

And it's bad.

Like, really bad.

Not only is it riddled with basic factual errors and devoid of any kind of analytical framework—but the introduction and conclusion were clearly written by ChatGPT! They left the font changes and everything in the draft!

Given that it's my first time serving as a peer reviewer, I'm honestly trying to think of how to shape my review.

Point out use of ChatGPT. Reject without opportunity to resubmit.

That's it. Don't waste any more time than that.

Oh man I saw that and was just like it's over! When I'm famous I can't wait to get an AI-generated fan mail letter!

My spouse and I saw that ad before Deadpool and we wept for the future.

I take such joy in actual writing, I can't imagine outsourcing it to databases and algorithms.

If in-state tuition is $1, then out-of-state tuition is $1.50-2.00, and international tuition is $2.00-3.00.

And the international tuition has to be paid in full upfront.

I should have recalled that many foreign nations are sending students over with six-figure stipends for tuition, room, and board. Universities will always help themselves to that kind-of cash.

Hmm...so it can detect where sharks are, eh? Initially used for "safety," this is just another link in the chain A.I. is forging to eventually enslave humanity!

"Oh sure, it's safe to swim here, guys! The A.I. said so!"

If anyone wants to see what an AI-generated sports article looks like, here's one based on this morning's Yahoo article on Tanner McKee.

[HUMAN ARTICLE] Yahoo - "How Tanner McKee played better than his numbers look in preseason opener" (link)
The numbers? The numbers weren’t particularly impressive. The performance? It really wasn’t a bad night for Tanner McKee.

Playing with some deep backup receivers behind a bunch of offensive linemen you’ve never heard of in a painfully vanilla offense, McKee looked comfortable and in command in the Eagles’ preseason opener in Baltimore....

(The article continues on, but this is the portion that was fed into a ChatGPT-like program.)
Now see if you can pick up on the AI syntax.

[AI ARTICLE] GAMEONBRAIN - “Unveiling the Hidden Genius: How Tanner McKee’s Preseason Performance Defied the Stats” (link)
So, let’s talk numbers for a sec. Honestly, they didn’t jump off the screen. But if I had to grade Tanner McKee’s performance the other night, I’d say it wasn’t too shabby! I mean, it was his first run in the preseason, and he had to work with a group of backup receivers—some of whom I couldn’t name if you paid me—and a makeshift offensive line that looked pretty unknown to the rest of us. Yet, there he was, looking right at home under center, steering the ship with a clear sense of control.

The atmosphere in Baltimore was electric, and McKee seemed to soak it all in! I genuinely felt he was composed, executing the plays effectively, even if the offense itself felt a bit basic—like, come on, can’t we spice things up a little? Still, during those last four offensive series for the Eagles, it was clear he wasn’t just going through the motions. He displayed confidence which, in itself, is a reassuring sign for both fans and coaches alike.

Overall, while the stats might not have been dazzling, McKee’s presence on the field felt impactful. If this is the future for him in the organization, I can’t wait to see how he continues to develop. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for this budding talent!
