My LCS said “he is getting 1 box in next week and he’s selling it at $775, which is cheaper than eBay.”

Are all of the autos in this product sticker?

The SCHQ review brings up a point on how will players like Pedri, Jude, Musiala etc be valued in Prizm. It seems to be a talking point now that we see Panini used RC on some players that may be questionable. Just wondering how everyone is treating this? Will it require the player winning like Mbappe to make these cards worth a significant amount or will everybody just value them since they are World Cup Prizm?

All those non-RC will just be treated like any of their other dozen non-RC cards. No comparison to Mbappe, where his World Cup Prizm is an actual RC, at least by major release standards.

Eh, they are just cards in a market flooded with literally tens of thousands of other cards.

Unless you hit incredibly big in this (extremely low numbered) they aren't anything special to be honest. Do people still buy into the "first prizm" stuff in this day and age? I don't think so, and I'd hope not.

2018 WC Prizm released a little over a week after 2017/18 Chrome UEFA according to release dates which is easily considered Mbappe's go to rookie card so comparing that to Musiala, Pedri and Jude that came out almost a year and a half ago is kinda stretching it.

I would maintain my position as always that the whole "1st Prizm" is a bit played out and only really matters for iconic sets that were 1st Prizm releases for their respective sports so 2014 WC Prizm,. 2012/13 NBA Prizm and 2012 NFL Prizm.

Panini must not care, putting rookie logos on players that had cards released 3 years ago like noah lang.

I just saw pepi has a rc logo again, panini made 2021 cards with the rc logo, ignoring his topps cards, but panini is now ignoring their own cards and slapping rc logo on everything.

Have they seriously put a RC on him in Prizm?

Look at all the rookies, who wants some more rookies! Pepi rookies, get your Pepi rookies!

2020 Bowman
2021 Immaculate
2021/22 Mosaic
2022/23 Panini World Cup Prizm

Potentially not so much first prizm but first card in national kit could be a thing

I agree with this sentiment, but don't think it applies for anyone that matters here. Everyone has already had national kit cards in prior releases.

Yeah, I figured as much. Is there any argument for players that have had their first national card come out this year, with Prizm being the 'preferred' first national card for the year? Like with releases like chrome being king of the plethora of rookie releases we see during any given rookie class year

It’s lazy, misleading, or insulting. Those are the 3 options.

Lazy - “oh, they were in Topps in 20-21? Huh.”
Misleading - “we know… but this is our first version of this player’s card with this tournament. We consider it their national team RC”
Insulting - “no one regulates this. But at least some people will spend more because of it so just do it so those idiots think it’s worth more.”

I think it’s probably more of 2 and a little of 3.

At whatever people are breaking this at with the volume produced it doesn’t matter because even if they were legit RCs in some folks minds it’s a bloodbath. So then you end up attracting naive buyers and no one actually collecting. Which is a bad recipe for value when everyone realizes the emperor has no clothes.

So what I'm gathering is that breakers are the only winners with this set?

I think depending on their original source and cost maybe. The guy who broke it on whatnot at $1k+ per box? Yeah. He probably won. But there’s a reason why some breakers are pre-selling the crap out of whatever volume they have, I’m sure:

It was clear from the get go that this release was gonna be about the SP inserts and the autos. Hopefully they did something like putting Mangas at 1 per box or something since they look like they would sell well even with a high print run.

But even with that, you should get what, $50 of EV in inserts? The boxes should be 300 at worst. Alvarez/US/Canada players can't carry this release.

Prizm inserts are horrid.

Lets be frank - the only things worth picking up in this set, and every other set this year are (very) low numbered parallels of hot young things and super stars. Everything else is worthless. Soccer isn't big enough to cater for anything else.

just wait for retail and breakaway to flood the market, the good inserts are in there as well.

I agree with almost everything you said -- I do find the color wheel inserts to be neat. Kind of.
