Because the whole market is Ronaldo/Messi. Because mostly only strikers/atrackers matter. Its like that in other sports too. Better hit 40hrs and be young. Have to be qb and be young. Average 30ppg and be young. Score 40+ goals and be young nhl. Everything else is mostly fodder long term. Unfortunately Messi/Ronaldo/Lewandowski put up such numbers recently that's impossible for the next generation to live up to. That's why mbappe/haaland get such premium because they are seen as the only hope and young. These Gavi's, Pedri's, boko, moko, soko, etc. will never do anything noteworthy long term. Fun to speculate but it will be like baseball trying to chase the next Trout. |

Or maybe you think this production for this product at a premium price makes sense. In which case you’re going to love what Topps has lined up for the rest of 2022 and I look forward to reading your positive commentary to lift us all up and see the bright side. Like usual. |

But in hockey the base rookies sell for $200/$150/$100/$50/etc. What's the highest selling paper base rookie from this set? In theory these boxes should be $50 or less or hockey should be 2x-3x price. |

Bought 10 blasters knowing full well the product wasn't great. But still a pretty fun rip. 5 from BJ's, 2 from Lids, 3 from Topps.com. Pulled a Gavi sparkle foil so that saved the rip. Only other sparkles of note were Mbappe, Foden Lewandowski and Fati. #'d foils run together. I got 5 total, best being Ronaldo and Reyna yellows to 250. 3 foils were in 1 box, 2 foils in another. Based on the last 3 I opened today, I should i have close to one complete set.

Welll.....opened my two hobby boxes ($100 each), and although I didn't do great in terms of players, did well in terms of beating the odds.
Built my complete base set, although it took me until the final pack of the second box to do it. Best Starball was Pulisic.....nobody else of note. Box 1 hits were an Aqua foil #/299 (1:40) and a Yellow foil #/250 (1:48) Box 2 was very good oddwise....a Perfection (1:144), a Sergino Dest Gold Starball (1:151), an SP (1:94), and an Icy Blue foil #99 (1:77). Overall a very enjoyable rip at a fairly reasonable price... |

Base starballs have been pretty clean from my box breaks. Parallels are the last one or two cards in the pack and susceptible to back corner issues as well as the standard foil chipping/dog ear issues

I opened four hobby boxes and six blasters last night for a laugh. Quality control is pretty bad. Every numbered card I managed to pull was either chipped, had a print line or a dog eared corner.
Starballs and speckles were better, but going by rookies and megastars only I put aside 10 cards (8 rookies, 2 haaland) out of all the boxes that are worth sending off to grade. Sadly the best cards are Pedro Goncalves, Cole Palmer, James McAtee and Liam Delap lol. I didn't look at base, that will all go in my wood burner. Last edited by YayNJ; 04-28-2022 at 07:47 AM. |

I was joking. My four year old is now the proud owner of tens of Giorgio Scalvini and Takuhiro Nakai cards.
