They lost their defensive wings. They won with defense as much as offense recently.

Was hoping he would wind up a Laker...

Still, some very nice adds from the Lakers on Day 1 of free agency.

Looking forward to seeing what else they can come up with on the free agent front whilst also keeping in mind they still have Schroder S&T and the MLE up the sleeve.

Buddy or Patty would be HUGE but both seem longshots. Feel like Mills could end up a Warrior?

Some guys I'd like to see on the Lakers - Melo, Redick, Kanter. Maybe take a gamble on one of Monk/Winslow

Obv retain THT and the twin

ive been happy with them to. they couldnt stay stagnant. i would like patty mills, another player that plays with alot of energy and can shoot lights out when hes hot. kanter would be a good add.

Two good 3-and-d wings gone and nobody seemingly wants Schroder.

Luckily for the Lakers Schroder's market dried up instantly so they should be able to bring him back at a great price. They now also have after Caruso left 5.9 million left they could likely spend on Mills. I assume you get Mills, bring back Schroder for a year and see what else you can get on the ring chasers.

shooters are getting paid this year and Mills is showing out in the olympics... if Doug McDermott got 3/42 I don't think Patty will be looking to take that big of a discount. Plus he already has a ring

Derozan s&t to Bulls appears to now be on the table...

Lonzo-Lavine-DD-PW-Vucci could be a pretty interesting team.

spurs likely getting back Lauri, as he's been a known target for them.

He'll be fine as a backup.

Better figure out that whole backcourt situation though.

Lakers fans are rejoicing about this swap on reddit...

what does he do well aside from getting offensive rebounds of his own misses?

he's getting mercilessly roasted on reddit right now

He was terrible for the lakers.. but i saw enough out of him for the cavs to think he can be a decent pickup for the vet min.

Monk is a great get for them... maybe they aren't sunk yet. He shot 40% from 3 last year and is still young enough he could improve under some Lebron tutelage. Plus his shooting pretty much guarantees he's going to see crunch-time minutes with the big 3.

I actually really like what the Lakers have done this off-season. They'll likely get Schroder back and can match THT, and now they've added Monk, Ellington, Bazemore, Ariza, and Carmelo.

the bolded are all good defenders but still think they went down a notch from what they had last year. Monk and THT are young enough to improve, with the other guys you have to hope they don't lose a step... but now that they're gaining some depth maybe they stay fresh.

the main worry now will be keeping ad healthy/fresh, because he's going to be the most irreplaceable piece on the team. RW at least provides a lot of the same duties as Lebron if he goes down or needs rest.

The all-geriatric team award goes to...the Lakers.

They've done great this offseason.

That being said, all that talk about Nets being scared is crazy right now. I'm taking more of a wait and see approach with the Lakers.

Yeah same here…I hated the Westbrook move and would have preferred they made a deal for Hield instead. But since then, their pickups have not been terrible. Looking at their roster right now, I think it’s good enough to contend for a title, assuming they can stay healthy.

I like their approach. They weren't deep last year and it hurt them. If you build a team around LeBron, AD and Westbrook, you want young 3&D players. They couldn't get them so they settle with tons of guys who have 1/2 of those:

Ellington (3)
Monk (Young and 3)
Bazemore (3&D)
Ariza (D)

I'm still not sure how Melo fits this team but that's something you can worry about later.

Looks like JC has a 5yr 125 million offer from the Hawks on the table.

The Spurs have 30.5 million in space and the Thunder have enough cap space - no other team has enough cap space to give him a max and the Hawks aren't interested in S&T's.
