Philadelphia may take 6 to 8 weeks to catch up. https://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/20...-philadelphia/

Are other parts of the country having mail delivery simply skip a couple days a week? We get it at work (Philly) and home (South Jersey).

Average 1-2 days per week here upstate/central NY with no mail, or a mysterious post-8pm drop-off which is really weird.

Wow. I walked a number of items in on 1/4 and they were accepted. USPS shows NO movement at all on the items since then.

We got skipped yesterday due to rare snowstorm for us knocking out power to lots of the area.

Had no issues at all during the holidays getting my packages in a timely manner. Now had first issue after the holidays. Have a package that was turned in at Cleveland and has not even moved out of there in a week. Googling it looks like it's another black hole were packages go and don't come out for a long time.

Down to 2 things that have been in transit for awhile.

Still one package in Oak Creek, WI that arrived there on 12/14 and no updates since. I did submit a missing package form last week but haven't heard anything obviously.

The other is a PWE for like $3 so I'm not too concerned, but that's an order from 12/4 that I still haven't received.

A couple of things from 12/27 and 12/31 that are still cycling around the system as well, but everything else is 1/2 or later so I'm mostly caught up.

Had to open my first ever item not received claim in over 200 purchases (waited as long as possible) Ordered Nov 18th, est arrival Nov 27-Dec 15.
35 USD card with free shipping, no tracking. Bought multiple items from the seller before with no issues. Made sure to tell him in the claim I will send back the refund if the card shows up. Sucks because it shipped from Michigan which borders the province I live in in Canada. Lost in the ether I guess.

Had a package coming from Mexico, last scanned on November 5th, scanned again on January 9th - at the same facility. Well, at least that shows it still exists, and I'm hoping the next entry is on this side of the border...

Heh, I sent a package to Mexico on Dec. 2nd. It left an airport in Mexico City, Mexico on Dec. 9th and hasn't been scanned since. Maybe soon. Hopefully.

Another interesting thing is that I picked up some cards over the last couple weeks. It's funny watching the complete randomness of stuff making it through versus just disappearing for a week+. One purchased on the 3rd, got here on the 9th. One purchased on the 6th, here on the 13th. One purchased on the 5th arrived at the local facility on the 12th and not moved since. One purchased on the 10th is in the same situation.

As noted above, I've seen the same thing where you go a couple days without getting anything.

I'm patient, so it doesn't bother me all that much. It's just incredibly fascinating to me, though, to watch massive enterprises know precisely what's coming, every year without question, and still succeed in failing beyond all comprehension.

Maybe, just maybe, less people will buy stuff online THIS year, lol!

My one missing package that was stuck in Oak Creek, WI FINALLY made it to Baltimore today, so hopefully should get it early next week. Conveniently, it started moving again after I submitted a missing package form. It hadn't moved since 12/14.

Now have one more package that departed Trenton, NJ on 12/30, and no updates since. That's only a $6 purchase so not that big of a deal.

I have had a lot of packages just go missing in the last few weeks, and the USPS final judgement on them is that they have been lost and then they offer their appologies. Starting to think some may have been stolen and this didnt occur to me until today. I took a large stack of bubble mailers into the PO today to have them scanned since they are not scanning some at all when I just drop in the box.

The guy scanning asked me with a big grin "what do you have here, sports cards.? What kind? These seem to be really popular lately. Yea usually these type of mailers either have coins or cards in them."

Makes you wonder...

What a weird comment. That would make me skeptical to use that post office again lol

If you are selling on ebay you can use the multi label shipping and print all your labels at once, just make sure you fill in fields that need to be done like weight, Ins if needed and date you are mailing on. When you take in your packages to mail they scan the sheet rather than each package and they are all loaded at the same time.

If you are selling just one type of item that is fine, but when you are selling different types of items its much easier to do them individually. Many times I experiment with the packaging checking different rates and such.

This exactly. I tried explaining this to one of the postal clerks and she just couldn't understand why I didn't do what another ebay seller does. Shipping costs depending on the item vary greatly depending on if you ship UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS.

Not to mention I sell a lot of items that fit in the same size box. If I boxed them all up at the same time there is a much higher chance of accidentally sending the wrong item to the wrong buyer.

USPS is normally good for smaller, light items (unless using Flat Rate boxes). Fed Ex is normally better for larger items or heavier items. UPS prices are normally close to Fed Ex (sometimes cheaper) but far better if you want your items getting there in one piece.

I might have to start writing on my Fed Ex boxes "NOT A PINATA!" Just got a return sent back using them and its beat to hell.

Just received a card from Indonesia shipped via DHL on 1/13. I have cards shipped via USPS that are still stuck in the origin city and were mailed before then.

At this point, anything I sell over $100 is getting FedEx 2 day service. I'll eat the extra cost to ensure it gets there. I already had to issue one refund (shipped PWE w/o tracking on a low end card) and had another refund request just come in. Fortunately, that one has tracking and landed in the buyer's city on 1/18, the day of the refund request... still not delivered tho.

I ship roughly 1,500 PWE and bubble mailers per month thru eBay. Before December, I would average 1 non-receipt claim per 1,000.

Now...I am getting messages and non-receipt claims daily. About 2-3 per day which would equal 20 per 1,000.

One regular customer just received a PWE last week that was shipped exactly 2 months before he received it.

It's just been absolutely brutal lately.
