What are folk's honest expectation on resale value?

Take Tatis, for instance... if his Orange #/25 Chrome is lets say $350-400 range right now, raw...

Would you expect his mini #/25 to sell for, what 1/10th that? or 1/5th? (i.e., the rate of 2018 versions)

So... if Tatis is a 1/300 hit (i.e., 3+ #/25 per box on a 1000 card print run), to give you an expected value from Tatis of $0.25 per box (at 20% value like-to-like rarity)... and how many other players with Tatis' excitement exist??? 4?

I mean... wow - I just don't know how to get $$ out of this product.

Maybe the Autos at 1:15 boxes? Who knows who signed, but lets say it is the same '84 players? And lets be super optimistic and say the AVERAGE auto is worth $100 (doubt it)... that only adds $6 in expected value per box.

I've never seen someone use an expected value calculation to determine if a product is worth breaking. Something tells me that is not the most efficient way to calculate resale.

It is much easier to say you need to average $6.25 per parallel to get your $25 back, with the remaining base, insert, and a chance at an auto being your "gravy". $6.25 doesn't sound outlandish considering every parallel is /25 or less. Your player selection ultimately determines if you can exceed that.

The inclusion of update in this is important too IMO. Rookies like Senzel, Riley, Hiura, Chavis, etc will all be included too.

OK... lets assume the minis can optimistically get to 50% the price of what Heritage Minis get (Acuna's get about this... although print run was half)... currently Tatis raw heritage mini /100 goes for about $70. So that would be $35 for the base card.

1/1000 x 30 x 35 = $1.05 / pack in Tatis "mini" value. Lets say there are 10 players with this type of pedigree in the whole set, who can get $20-35 each. Or $0.65-1.05 each pack in value.

You end up with something like $7-8 in value of hit players. And probably limited value in anyone else.

[and you are sitting on this wax, the total # of hit players probably drops over time, to 1-2, maybe]

So $7-8 in base + $2-3 in numbered + $6 (probably too high) in auto value

I really miss the boxed version of this product... I have little interest in opening it in the current form but I picked up 10 boxes to hold onto. Maybe sell them off in a year to fund something I actually want to open haha. Providing they don't tank...and if that happens I'll just rip them myself.

A chrome Sapphire Tatis with a PR ~1000 goes for 300. Impossible to guess this early on IMO.

It won't matter. This is a cheap rip with a chance at an auto, plus 4 guaranteed parallels. I know someone who bought 650 sets. I believe the product will do fine.
