I guess my question is: why?
I have bought 2 houses, 1 was in the last year and I couldn't tell you the company who sold the house. Anybody who looks at the company who is selling the house instead of the house itself is going to cost themselves a house.

Do I know this person said it? If I did? Then no I wouldn't buy a car or a house from that person. I'd happily walk away from that person and find someone else.

Come on. Your double standard is getting unreal.
You don't need to be very smart to have a real estate license. The test isn't very hard. Most people think real estate is super hard to do and needs intelligence. But like most things it's easy to get into, but the intelligence and ability, along with hard work, is what separates the compensation levels. If you're able to learn and can add, multiply, and subtract, you have the skills.

I've been a real estate investor for quite some time and do it full time. I could easily get my real estate license in 2 weeks. It's more about memorizing rules and regs about what you can and can't do. The rest you learn (i.e. how to value properties, rents, etc.) on the job and from someone whose been doing it longer. Hence why this person was an intern.

I'm not sitting their frantically googling their name to see their social media account in case they said something offensive. I'd be willing to bet 99% of everyone else isn't concerned about it either even though all you BO White Knights will certainly disagree with me
There's a slight twist to this. In real estate, especially on the broker/agent side (those representing sellers and agents versus those that are investors) reputation is EVERYTHING. The absolute vast majority of business in real estate is based on recommendations and referrals. So while most people aren't googling an agent or brokers name, if someone has a bad reputation that word not only spreads faster than a good reputation, but they also can lose business as people don't want to refer them to their friends.

You realize you only see the company selling a house at closing right? Your agent is the one who deals with the other listing agent that would be working for that company.

That's only half the equation.

If you are the seller I can 100% guarantee you will know how sold the house.

In a normal real estate transaction the general commission is 6%, that's normal market rate. It can be lower depending on various factors.

But if you're the seller and you're going to net 6% less than the sales price you are going to know who the person selling your house is and what their reputation is.

The buyer doesn't care about who is selling the house because it's mostly irrelevant for their side of the transaction.

Thank you for another sensible response, you seem to be the only capable one in this thread.

Anyways, I totally agree about the reputation part which is why it makes total sense they fired him plus the company gets good publicity it's a win win.

To my point though, if i was in the process of buying a house and I somehow found out that my agent said exactly what that guy said it sure wouldn't stop me from buying the house. Reprehensible I know

Perhaps, your response should be for JC. He only hires the smartest people for real estate agent position.

We are talking about buying a house here which I said I don't care who is selling it... he asked if I would buy from that company.

No. I see listing agent names in Zillow or any house search.

You do realize that zillow and an agent are different, right?

I would actually 100% agree with you on the buy side.

When I buy a house or an investment property I could care less whose selling it as long as they don't hold up the deal.

Oh yeah? It must be crazy to see the same person in the open house as he/she appears in zillow listing.

Have never been to an open house on either of the times we were looking at a house. Only person who appears at the house when we are there is... my agent.

"Good enough to land a job in real estate" is not really setting the bar that high though

Let me phrase it like this:

If I were seriously considering buying real estate and I found out this company was involved when this news broke then yes...I would take my business elsewhere.

Not sure why that is so shocking.
