First off, you don't get 192 base cards in a box...you would need to subtract your inserts/hits/minis/etc. Secondly, you brought up $200 is not reasonable. How is it reasonable that a set-building set such as Allen & Ginter is literally $150 direct?

Topps raised the prices on products because they know it can sell. They are not always pricing these products based off of quality/checklist availability/etc.

Lastly, in regards to "For any product to be a "set-builders" product, one has to be able to build the set for a reasonable price."...sets can always be affordable when you go after singles/trades. Never is it affordable to build a set from a box.

I think we all agree $200 is bonkers for box of cards. But this is current market and standard with absolutely no need for having consistency of pricing as for Topps, they will sell out of their product over time regardless.

Ginter has 5.5 base cards per pack excluding inserts/minis/shortprints. 132 cards of the base 300 card set = 44%

Finest Flashbacks (last year) gave you 88 cards of a 199 card set = 44.2%

I get this is very ticky-tack but seems like we're arguing a pointless point.

Isn't this what the message boards are all about, arguing pointless points?

i think your math is the one that's off - 36x12=432, not 540. 432 cards out of 660 is a little more than half - the point that you are missing is that your criticism of FF not being a set builder's product is asinine as usual.

15 cards per pack back then, not 12.

Anyway, back to the point we're arguing....FF is totally a gamblers product....people are ripping it in the hope of hitting a high value color parallel of a big-name player.

Cleveland IC alone has probably run 10+ 20-box breaks...

Very few people are buying it to build sets....

Even though my 3 boxes of FF were loaded last year, gonna pass this year. Would have been in if $100 or less but the price plus the crappy shipping times is a big turn off since I haven't even had the chrome lite boxes ship yet

Nobody is saying it is smart to buy the box to build the set. The singles will sell, whether it is to player collectors, SET BUILDERS, or single card grading flippers. Nobody likes the $200 price tag, you can't make hundreds like you sometimes can flipping boxes and we are all use to other product having more than 1 guaranteed hit. Nearly everything is a gamblers product when the price is above $100 on any chrome style baseball card Topps product. Collecting is a gamble, investing is a gamble, buying boxes and doing whatever with them is a gamble. It takes acceptance of the gamble to have a chance to have any sense of happiness let alone collectibility within this hobby (for me)/business (for others).

Everyones math is off......You cannot just say A Packs X B Cards per pack = % of set. As one mentioned...you have to take into account parallels/inserts etc. Furthermore you have to take into account duplicates as well....Even with 1 box, you are bound to get a couple duplicate base cards.

Can we just get a checklist please? I gave them some time to post as it usually takes a while, but I'd like to see it.

Exactly right, which is what the 1993-1994 Finest products were too (no colors, just refractors), so this is a proper flashback. Some products are like that.

Try logging out of Topps.com > then log back in > then go back to your email and click on the "Buy Now" button. Hopefully it is a browser/login cache issue for you. Good luck!

I don't think price plays into it.

It depends how many cards you get in a pack vs the number of cards in the set. If it takes some effort, then it's for set builders (nothing to build when you get it all in 1-2 boxes).

I can see Fanatics box prices being higher than 2021 Topps FF of a similar product. 2020 went up to $200 within a few days if I'm not mistaken

Not all boxes had three hits. I think close to half of the boxes I opened (which was several) only had 2 hits. I did hear of a few that only had one hit. And there were a few with four hits.

Just now saw your reply. I'm not expert, just my opinion, but I'd say between FOMO & breakers that the prices will rise. Maybe $300 ends up being the peak, but I think it will it at least hit sometime before Halloween.

Looks like FF boxes are available to the public. 1 per account. No extra for MC members.
