The oldest's bus keeps coming at vastly different times every day. One day it's 642am the next 710am. Oldest missed the bus this morning. Only 1 of 8 kids made it.

Back to working on my recertification. The chapter 3 test was 63 questions yesterday and I got 1 wrong. You have to pass each test with a 100%. It took over an hour to complete.

Apparently all of my old employees are still listed under me for time cards as I keep getting time card notices for them.

There is a terrible stomach bug going around the one shelter. I hope I don't get. They were all at the community breakfast yesterday.

The Southern Maryland News reached out to me via our fire station Facebook site and asked permission to use my photos from last Saturday's fire in their newspaper.

I'll see if they are willing to match the salary and what actually position they would want me to do before making any decision. There's pluses and minuses to accepting. I don't want to burn the bridge of the two people at my current company that look out for me. On the other hand, 170 days of leave paid out at my new salary rate would be nice. The old job was also more flexible on hours and telework.
Only 170 vacation days? That seems low for your standards.

I'm back at work today, I pulled a FT and took 2 days off. Shocked everybody I work with, they couldn't believe I was taking days off. Spent it working on my eBay business and just enjoying the peace of being off. Also did some house hunting, we have 2 lakes that border our county, and I hadn't really been looking at house on 1 of them just because it is a little further of a drive. I started looking and the same size houses are nearly half the price on that lake. I guess because it's not the "wealthy" lake area. Now I'm expanding the search that way.

sorry...but taking just 2 days off is not pulling a FT..............that is his normal weekly schedule

I can only accumulate 200 hours of vacation before I don't accumulate anymore. Sick time is unlimited but you don't get paid for it if you leave the company. I have 48 hours of sick time right now.

They're letting me sit at home, get paid, and recertify my certifications while I wait to go to indoc on the 8th. I think they want me.

Glen is right about FT's schedule. Good for you! You are allowed to do things for yourself once in a while.

The stress from the last 2 afternoons/evenings managing a store I was unfamiliar with wore me out. Forget the fact that I have only been a key carrier for 2 weeks and have so much to learn. There was so much crap that happened Sunday, it made me wonder why I agreed to go down there with so little experience. All but one of the employees I worked with were great. However the one that wasn't was one of the laziest SOB's I've ever met. Problem is that he is in a position of management .

I ended up crashing last night and slept for about 12 hours.
