With the orders that take a while to go from 'received' to 'research and id' is that because they are shipping them across the country to New Jersey?

Not necessarily. That first step has often taken a while.

For what it's worth, my 'vault handoff' (1st attempt) after being authenticated has now taken 12 days and still not complete. Unrelated to grading but very related to PSA and current delays. So it could be a combo of the National and staffing.

This is my first post here. I'm new to card grading. Been collecting comic books about 35 years. My son saw my comics and got me into Pokemon TCG about 10 months ago.

This is my 6th and most delayed PSA submission. I screwed up and didn't put the submission ID on the OUTSIDE of the package. I put the submission ID on the outside of the box with the cards in it but then put that inside a padded envelope bubble mailer. I swear did the same on previous submissions and there were never such delays. Now I know. I'll definitely put the ID on the outside from now on!

I called PSA at the 9 business day mark, 18 July, to check status. They told me they were backlogged because of Nationals and that they were currently processing orders from 25 June. I took that to mean they were 24 days behind and that I may as well sit tight until at least 1 August before calling them again. When I call them again I plan to ask them their current backlog and also to reiterate concern for where my package is in their processing. I'm hoping they have been catching up their backlog but I wouldn't be surprised if the backlog got worse since Nationals just ended.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Still have not been checked as received in their system as of 7/30 which to me is insane. I did do the find my package bit and it does show it was delivered on 7/12.

Two special subs (one July vintage and one June 1980 to present) that arrived on 5th July per PSA finally exited order prep and entered Research and ID yesterday (29th July).

Went to a 'drop-off event' in Philly at XfinityLive last evening...

I completed the submission at home, printed paperwork, and just needed to drop off the cards, so it was easy at the event.

I was struck, however, at how unsophisticated the processing of the cards was--they just wrapped them in rubber bands (), folded the paperwork, and combined them before inserting into a large box with everybody else's cards. When a box was full, they just put it behind their chairs (uncovered) and started on the next one.

As I was driving home, it struck me that they didn't give me a 'receipt' or anything to prove that I had actually dropped off $15K worth of cards...which is totally my fault for not asking, but I'm also surprised that PSA wouldn't have such a system in place to avoid finger-pointing in the event that somebody claims a card was dropped off but never makes it to their system?

Couple of things come to mind.

1) Their countdown (50 days for this order) doesn't start until they check in the item. Pretty lame for us but it also acknowledges that they get oversaturated with orders.

2) Did you place your submission ID on the very outside of the package? I would think that by 18 days from receiving your package that they would have at least scanned that barcode. I messed up and put my box with the submission ID inside a bubble mailer. Was thinking that was the main cause for mine not being scanned in yet but if you did that part correctly then maybe they aren't even scanning stuff as far back as 3 weeks.

As of 18 July, they were 24 days behind. I plan to call them Thursday to check their backlog status. Hopefully they are catching up this week but IDK how far back Nationals might have set them.

Currently now 2 weeks since authenticator 'hand off' to vault and 3 weeks since purchase. No tracking updates since 7 16. If this is typical it will be the last time I use the vault. Should it delay further question is who does one follow up with, PSA or eBay?

Fortunately not in a rush to get it as PC but should have better communication or updates. I get it's a newer process so I'll let it roll for a few more days

7/11/24 and it still hasn't even been entered into there system, but they have the nerve to send me a reminder to ship out my submission.

Agreed. Recently, my CA orders have actually moved slower at every step, including the early ones. Now I almost root for delays.

As of 30 July, their backlog is at processing orders up to 2 July. So, roughly 28-day backlog. When I called on 18 July their backlog was 24 days so it got worse. Seems attributed to Nationals. I imagine 4th of July had an effect too.

Hopefully the backlog starts getting caught up this coming week. If I don't see my order pop by 7 August I'll call again to check the backlog status.

My order arrived 7/3, prep 7/23 and in the last two days has begun assembly. It’s a small order with multiples of the same card and all cards were already in their system.

3 Incredible low-pop Shaq's

Now a Pop 2 card, crazy cool classic Shaq.


Amazing to gem this one. The lowest pop PSA 10 of all the 1997 metal's for Shaq. This is now (will be) a pop 3. This completes my trio of owning a PSA 10 Reebok Bronze, Silver, and now Gold.


And tacked on another insert I didn't have yet, purchased raw on eBay so to get a 9 is fantastic (no 10's exist):

I am quite impressed with the timeframe so far. Hopefully I don't get stuck in assembly for the next few weeks with the national grading cards going back to the offices.

Wow, I just made a stupid error. I had the NFL special in the system to ship, but never hit submit for the order. Went to look at it today to print it off and realized it. So I missed the NFL special and of course this is the month that they don't extend any of the previous months specials. Now may add some other items I was looking to grade to get to the 20 card min and do a bulk order.

I have two orders with PSA right now, both modern and same service level.
#1 recv'd 6/10, RID 6/24, still in assembly for almost two weeks.
#2 recv'd 7/8, RID 7/18, completed assembly today and about to pop.

First order is thicker 130pt cards, do they just take longer to slab?

you need to call customer service. I had the same issue and got them to expedite.
