Question for anyone in the know:

I've ordered before I've submitted to BGS and PSA once each before and there was a charge for insurance, basically insuring the return package for the value of the cards. I've prepared my first order to SGC and have already paid, however I noticed that there is NO insurance charge for the return package. Searched the website, nothing. Submitted a question via their form and no response as of yet.

So, to the folks who have been using SGC, how do you ensure that your package is insured to the full declared value? And are there any loopholes like deductibles or maximum payouts?

Grateful for any thoughts.

When you're creating you're online submission SGC asks you to type in a value for each card. That value is for insurance purposes, base your value on the expected grade and not the raw card value.

Same here. Was a bit nervous until I logged in.

Thanks, good points on the declared value, but I'm curious as to why there is no explicit mention of return shipping being insured. As mentioned, other grading companies explicitly have insurance as part of the order process. How are they insuring the shipment? I searched FedEx website and it seems like they only cover up to $1000 for items that do not include jewelry, gems and precious metals. So I'm not convinced that the declared value will fully cover my shipment.

This is the only thing holding me back from submitting with them currently. I've also sent SGC a question regarding this with no answer thus far. I have two cards I'd like to submit to SGC to see how I like them, but the return insurance is still a question mark unless someone here can elaborate.

I'm also curious if they accept submissions via USPS Registered mail since they would need to pick those up from the local PO.

Definitely slowing down. My 8/20 order still hasn’t gone to post-grading. Even w Labor Day and weekends, it’s at about 16/17 business days already. But like others I see their growing popularity as a good thing. And once PSA gets more open their times will come down I bet.

My 12 card order sent 13th already marked received 15th. I'm anticipating somewhere around October 11-13 for it to hit post-grading based on timelines I've been seeing in here now. Perfectly fine with that for $30 a pop.

I’ve got a 20-card all Ohtani sub that was logged on 8.27. Hopefully I’m a week out!

My first sub with them is on it's way back now, happy with the turnaround (and the grades!)

Submitted: 8/15
Received: 8/19
Graded: 9/10
Shipped: 9/15

Question for everyone. When should I be able to access the scans? Does it usually take a few additional days for that?

I have a 7 card order that is in the post grading phase, however 2 of the items say $0.00 for the service fee, has anyone seen this before? All the others say $30 as I’d expect.

I had that happen to me today, but the grade for the card still popped.

I submitted these cards on 8/19 and I am pretty happy with the grades on most. I've always enjoyed SGC but I feel like with their speed, customer service, and scans, that they are in prime position to make a big jump in the market.

Maybe this was mentioned and I missed it but as I was inputting another group of cards this morning I saw STANDARD Grading is now 45-50 business days.
The quick turnarounds were fun while they lasted fellas!

There was a video they posted about that recently, they are trying to under promise and over deliver and they are still at about 16 to 17 days turnaround time. But they see that time starting to lengthen and want to get ahead of it.

Even if their time is lengthening it is a sign people are beginning to accept them as a logical option. PSA still rules, but sending low to mid range cards and waiting 1 year plus has soured all but the PSA or nothing group.

I have a 8/21 that went to Post Grading today, however 15 of the 33 cards had the service charged changed to 0. I hope there is not some sort of issue

Check your surfaces before you send cards in, guys! I was really surprised when the pristine Lamar Jackson RC I sent in was graded 8.5, but when I got it in the mail today, I could immediately see the issue: a nasty surface scratch right on the front. I blame this on the time it spent in a one-touch (which I have stopped using). It’s a real bummer because the card is really sharp in every other aspect, but I accept the grade because that scratch is pretty bad. I’m just now getting into sending in cards for grading, and need to be better about looking them over before I ship.

Surface is definitely the killer of a lot of cards. I have gotten much better using light and magnification, especially on chrome type cards.

dang, how long does the post grading process normally take? I have been waiting since the 13th on my first ever submission with SGC, getting antsy.

Tbh that seems abnormal! Usually within a day I think.
