Another successful Santa Run is in the books. We didn't have as many kids come to the station for Santa like we did pre-pandemic. The dinner was delicious when we got back.

No, it looked pretty bad with the public standing around, especially the kids. I knew he wasn't going to hit me. I cut that entire segment of the video out. It's a shame too because you could see most of our members in the apparatus that had the windows down since they were closer to the camera.

Kid said Mahomes had a big lead in the vote and it wasn’t close. I asked based on what and posted the betting odds over the course of the season showing Mahomes in third for most of the year and currently in second. Rather than making his case he called me dishonest (“or maybe just new”) and then started quoting the Wikipedia introduction on Gambling.

It reminded me a bit of the old Wild West days on Blowout. This whole weekend did in fact.

There's a difference. In the mascot's case it is staged for entertainment.

In our case, everything has to be done with the public in mind since public perception is priceless. Too many paid firefighters have been fired or had their departments embarrassed for pulling dumb stunts like that. The other think you have to think about is what if that ambulance had a mechanical issue when he did that and he as unable to pull back out and hit me, my car, or god forbid the kid who was next to my car.
