that’s actually a very valid point. I just think the pink soto is the card that will change some of that perception.

I agree, it is a very nice looking card. Full disclosure, I just sold a PSA 10 and BGS 10 pink Soto to fund a basketball purchase. I think all the Soto refractors are underpriced. These pinks were tough pulls and should be more than double a base. The refractor/250 last sold for $1,000. That’s barely more than 6x the base version for a numbered card that looks great.

I love the pink on the Soto card. His uniform, the shininess, it all looks great together..

I Think the pink chrome refractors especially for 2018 are super nice. Way better looking than the green

For me, one of the best things about the soto and the rest of the ‘18 tcu set is that the cards were made in thicker better quality stock. It was the only year they were made this way. I haven’t seen that many people go out of their way to make that point. I think this is one of the many reasons why these cards stand out so much.

You figure the base TU/TCU is the best card to own? And using their sale to finance another Soto would be a bad trade???

Purple refractor being the Heritage chrome purple? I think the heritage somehow is lagging just in general

Yes, the best BASE SOTO card to own! do you disagree??? ...selling to finance another trade is that person’s prerogative. all im saying is if you can get that other high end soto card without having to use these base cards to finance it, that would be the better option. if that’s not an option then by all means.

I’d rather have quality over quantity. To each their own tho. I’ve sold some Soto stuff only because I had too much for comfort and wanted to spread out my collection a bit.

I’m not sure I have an authoritative answer... but it is true I personally generally eschew base cards for numbered SP or SSP parallels as a hedge against market fluctuations. I guess that, though, probably implies they have lower beta, and thus lower upside (but also lower downside).

Thinks Series 1 purple numbered to 299 is what was meant

The Chrome Update parallels are so low compared to the regular update. I know the regular update is more condition sensitive, but pinks and refractors weren't exactly easy to pull.

This market is so crazy, its fluctuating so fast and hard. Literally a weak ago, maybe longer, you could have PSA 10 Update's and chrome update's for $90-$100. Now they are pulling just about $150.

For the same price, what's the better long term hold: 4 Chrome Updates or one 2018 Bowman's Best Auto?

I can't wait to hear folks take on this... as I made a similar choice.

BTW those Best autos are pretty! You should get one, anyway

The same can be applied for Soto.

Acuna's downside risk is much greater than Soto. Only one of the two regressed at the plate last year and that one happens to be the guy with much higher expectations

All-star, top 5 mvp, silver slugger, 5.7 war and just missing 40/40 is one hell of a regression. I collect Soto, but he didn’t do any of that. Hopefully he’ll get there one day!

I've spent so much on cards that at this point that I decided not to add anything for buy and hold purposes without moving some of what I've got. I have some pricey some stuff I'm dying unload but I need to grade first otherwise I'm leaving too much on the table(a couple vlad golds, acuna sp, etc). It's a complicated dance. I've probably doubled my money on my huge Ohtani stash but I'm reluctant unload much of him until we get a taste of him on the field this season.

If you have any pretty soto cards that you’re looking to move, let me know! I’m looking to buy something pretty!
