Don't worry everyone, I didn't pull a preakness. I'm still here.

I went to urgent care this morning, I was really hoping they were going to diagnose an ear infection and call it a day. Sadly, no.

They have no idea what's wrong. No fever, no ear infection, no covid - their best guess is an irritated nerve that might be a precursor to shingles. kcuf if I know. I took a sick day from work and mostly kept away from the internet to get some rest. I slept 9 hours last night for the first time in like 10 years.

Every 20 seconds I feel like someone is stabbing me in the side of the head and it literally makes me wince with pain each time. Thankfully 400mg of advil keeps it at bay. So I'm enjoying a cocktail of Zyrtec, Flonase (allergy meds to keep those things out of the equation), and Advil. I'll give it a couple of days and then if it's not better I'll have to see what a real doctor can figure out.

Well you’re not dead so that’s good for Riley Pint sellers. If it’s shingles, ask Glen or cornhole if you have any questions. They are old as dirt and that’s who usually gets shingles.

Thankfully the spiders that hatched in my sinus cavity keep the ear cockroaches away.

Yeah definitely got reminded that I'm getting old by hearing "might be shingles".

My buddy here who teaches in the WWII-studies program got a "gift" this morning from a student who had taken one of his online Holocaust classes. (He literally opened the box in front of me while we were chatting.)

I'm guessing the student is related to Tritty somehow...

(For the record, Last Stop Auschwitz is the title of a famous book written by a survivor.)

Kind of sad, it looks homemade, the student probably genuinely thought they were doing something nice.

Just checked with my buddy and it turns out that they did not assign that particular book in any of the WWII classes.

Not only that, but every WWII prof received a train—all of them headed to different camps.

Definitely handmade.

Some people are really bad at anticipating how their actions will be interpreted—it could definitely be a student who struggles with that.
