Not sure why Braves' FO is scrambling in the junk heap rather than giving Hurston a spot.

We need to get him up quick so he can blow his arm out and start his clock on his return from TJ. That way he will be on par with everyone else we have on the IL. He is still raw, but he will be good. Glad to see only 1 walk in this outing.

This was his best outing of the season. Still has control issues and he hasnt really put up mlb ready numbers in AAA this year. If you dig into his numbers he also has had quite a few outings with unearned runs as well. They rushed him up last year and he was rocked. I think he will need to prove it at AAA a before he gets another shot. Has one of the best splitters in the minors but fastball gets hit more than it should as still too many walks.

Yeah he's not a finished product yet but he's likely better than the guys they're pulling from the scrap heap. His ERA, FIP, and xFIP are all basically equal in AAA so he is what he is right now. He only threw 7 IP last year anyway, they weren't good innings but hard to pull anything from them aside from that he needed more AAA seasoning, which he's gotten this year.

Randy Johnson pitched 160 IP in his first full season and had a BB/9 of 5.38... not saying Hurston is a HOFer but sometimes you have to let the talented guys work through it and figure things out. Braves are sitting 4th in the NLE anyway, only 1.5 g up from the bottom. Not like this is a make-or-break year so they should be experimenting and letting the young guys play.
