The thunder struggle with teams that have bigs, but I don't understand how okc has solid bigs that can't match them. I mean the grizz roll out elders in z bo and Vince and rookies to fill out everything but the center position.

Also, Russ is playing at a crazy high level.

Grizz are one of the best defensive teams regardless of personnel. Its their system and pace..much like the jazz and spurs.

The same team that's given the warriors a challenge all year. They are highly underrated and overlooked.

Bench.

Get this:

Westbrook is +259 this season when he is on the floor.
The Thunder are -176 when Russ is not on the court.

Compare that to Harden:

Harden is +408 when he is on the court.

He must be a better player, right? Well...

His team is +81 when Harden is off the court.

Break that down per game and Russ needs to overcome an average of -2 points of production from the bench, while Harden get +1 points behind him.

This right here shows exactly why Westbrook is "Most Valuable".

That was another great, clutch game for Beastbrook. Pretty efficient too.

But with Clips up huge tonight, I don't see OKC getting the 5th seed now. That's the only thing that may hinder him getting MVP, but he should anyway. He's by far the most valuable dude this year. OKC would probably have 12 wins without him.

I just read that this years MVP will be awarded after the Finals which I think is dumb. I'm not sure when they will actually vote though, if anyone knows please share. I hope it's before the playoffs because as much as I want Russ to win, I know the MVP is for the regular season but if Harden's Rockets meet Russ' Thunder in the first round and the Rockets win I think it will sway some voters, and voters that were 50/50 on their decision to go towards Harden, I really do.. I so hope I'm wrong though.

Isn't it usually announced just before the Finals anyway, or close to them? They really should do it straight after the end of the regular season.

Wait a second:

NBA reveals the date it will announce award-winners, including MVP | FOX Sports

After the draft?????

I'm pretty sure all voting is done before the playoffs start.

Then there will be a first ever awards show on TNT June 26th I believe to announce all winners.

Yeah voting is done before the playoffs start and typically announced early in the playoffs..I remember when Dirk won but he had already been eliminted from the playoffs in the 1st round when they announced

Not his greatest first half....against the Suns, no less.

But. We've seen what he can do in just the span of a 4th quarter. Have little doubt he'll get the record tonight.

Seems like they just know how to play him, lol. That or he just complicates his own life by overthinking the level of competition.

The defense as a whole has been awful too..soooo many easy points in the paint...giving up 71 points at the half is inexcusible

Ugly game for the entire OKC team.

Disappointed to see Westbrook back in the 4th when down 20. I know if there's anyone who could bring them back it's him, but not a good look.

Actually think its a great look..especially in this climate of superstars taking maintenance days off. Suns fans wanted him in as well. Game was very much within reach when they put him with plenty of time left.

Yeah, I mean 20 points with 10 minutes left is very doable. Plus Adams came back in, etc. To me the most telling thing is he's not passing the ball off very much for assists. He's taking ill-advised shots as a result haha but at least it doesn't look like he's desperately grasping for that triple double.

That's Russ though for better or worse in situations like this...sometimes you get the good Russ where he takes over like he did in Dallas and has done against Memphis and Utah and sometimes you get games like this.

Agree with you..shot selection was horrific tonight..but seems like he's showing its not necessarily about triple dubs but about getting the dub. Just didn't find the right formula tonight.
