30 Film Cels!?!?! How many were in New Hope Illustrated? 10 or 20?

EDIT: Oops, I just saw there were 25 total but skip numbered to 30. I wonder what the deal is with that.

What's with the numbering in the film cels?

It sounds planned bassed on the checklist title information:
"Film Cel Relics Set Checklist
25 cards. Set is skip-numbered."

Maybe the other 5 will pop up in one of the other SW sets to be released this year?

Maybe they damaged every copy of those 5 and pulled them.

Well there are 25 rather than the 20 on the original sell sheet.
Wonder if production is higher or if there will be less made of each one.

If they still made a total of 3,000 then the print run average per film cel will be 120, rather than the original projections of 150

If that is the case then this is better

Hopefully there are a few SP's with print runs of around 50

For those of you who opened Illustrated New Hope, do you remember if there were Sketchagraph redemption cards? I just pulled one out of Empire and I m a bit ticked. All the redemption says is you will receive a Sketchagraph. No mention of artist or character.

Don't remember there being any redemptions in New Hope. At least you got a sketchagraph. I didn't hit one in my 1st case. 10 panorama sketches, 2 reg sketches, 5 film cels, and 7 autos. It was 1 sketch per box.

Yeah these odds are actually a little better than I projected!
Normally they up initial projections by 10%, but here they cut it by 9%.

I did notice that the pack odds are missing odds for the Embossed Carbonite inserts and the Printing Plates for those. Topps recently Tweeted about these, so this must of been an oversight.

Also i noticed that the Mission: Capture Luke Skywalker inserts are 1 in 6 packs rather than the original stated odds of 1 in 8

So some of the better hits look to fall slightly better per case than I originally thought, but basically the same.
Gold #/10 was 1.4 now 1.53
Printing Plate was 0.8 now 0.9
Sketchgraph was 1.13 now 1.23

Doesn't sound like much, but before you would get on average 3.33 of these 3 hits per case, now it is 3.66.

So most cases will now yield you 4 of these total
An extra hit worth $40 to several hundred rather than a $10 hit helps a little.

What you didn't get a sketchgraph? I guess it will be possible to not get one, but I will be very upset if I don't get at least one.

I read a post from a guy getting 7 sketchgraphs from 1 case of New Hope.
Guess I have to take him at his word, but if that stuff happens again, then a few cases will not have one.

The average sketch quality on ebay so far looks very good actually, better than masterwork. This might be a real sleeper. The only disappointment is some redemptions, lets hope it's few and far between.

The artist autograph cards look terrible in this, such a shame.

I don't understand why there is an artist autograph card. I would rather have a medallion.

I like the idea considering the whole set is artwork, but the execution was terrible. They obscure 1/3 of the artwork! They should've just had the artists sign the backs, or retooled the design to allow space for the autograph and still show the image.

So you get 6 or 7 Matt Busch/Randy Martinez autos in a case? Were they the only two artists to do base cards? It's a challenging parallel set I guess but it doesn't add much value to the product or to me personally because I don't collect parallels. For set collecting purposes, I'd take 12 film cels in a case instead since there are 25 in the set. But then those wouldn't have much value either.

So far on ebay there are some great sketches and some terrible sketches. Same as any release.

Someone went to the Howard Shum School of Art. I can't make out the signature.

This was my point some time back. The artists doing the artwork isn't varied enough to make this insert set interesting, it's a bit silly really. Having said this, I am sticking my neck out and saying this will be better than Masterwork art wise. I think it's going to do just great.

That's pretty crappy. Hopefully the redemptions are Hamills (who was on the sell sheet but no one has seen an actual sketchagraph card of yet) but Topps left themselves a nice(shady) out and could send anyone.
