Nick Kurtz now has higher BA (.313) than teammate Jacob Wilson (.312). Hit for power and average, slashing .313/.397/.645 with an 181 wRC+.
He's good but to say he can be the next Judge is a bit premature at this point.

You are right. Kurtz is athletic Judge with speed and defense.

I hope he puts up Judge like numbers. He will be fun to watch over the next 10-15 years that's for sure.

Are we talking about playing baseball, or are you thinking about asking him out?

On his day off, Kurtz came off the bench to hit his 27th HR.

The only players this season with a .300+ AVG and a 1.000+ OPS (min. 350 PA): Aaron Judge, Nick Kurtz

After watching guys like Rhys Hoskins and Pete Alonso rip the cover off the ball their first year and then fade, I'll reserve judgment until I see him do it again next year.

I can definitely sympathize with your reluctance to believe, but I’ll just say this: Alonso hit .260 his first season with a career high of .271, Hoskins hit .246 his first full season and with a full season career high of .247. Nick Kurtz is currently hitting .300. I think Kurtz is a more competent hitter than Alonso or Hoskins.

...and neither of them sniffed the bigs until 24. Kurtz will still be 22 when ST starts next year.

Can anyone think of a power hitter who hit majority of homers to opposite field? Judge comes to mind but even he isnt as drastic as Kurtz. Ability to wait and pull the switch is amazing.

I think you're probably right.

But a lot of young players struggle once the league stops throwing them fastballs and develops a strategy to exploit their weaknesses.

And given that Kurtz has only a couple of cards to date, it's not a hard choice to wait 12 months until he has more cards and buy some then.
