Now I’m getting a message that my COMC password has appeared in a data leak.

Sounds like something happened over there causing the additional security measures? Does anybody know?

My last cash out request has taken almost 3 weeks now with no money sent to me. They are "researching" what the problem is and where my money went. Sounds like they were hacked.

Paypal cashout? Mine are taking the usual 4-5 business days.

Still need a code. This is getting frustrating, and I’m normally very patient.

This is where the COMC communication falls way short.

If there is a data leak, it is standard for a company to let everyone know so that we can change our password.

That also explains the 2fa. They could be honest and say "We know this is inconvenient, but there are security issues due to a recent data hack and we have to do this for your protection."

To me at least, that is a lot less annoying that "Oh did we do that? Oopsies!, we will fix it soon", followed by two weeks of crickets.

One way or another COMC dropped the ball on this one.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Unless we are all getting that message when we run security checks (and I for one am not), its more likely that the OP used the same password on multiple sites and the breach was from a different site.

OTOH, if there was a data breach they certainly should have notified us by now and would likely be in breach of laws in at least some states.

And they certainly should have been able to implement trusted device by now. My non-eBay sales have also plummeted since the ham-handed version of 2FA came into
effect.

Consistently between 600-1000 all year in 2023. Then 393 in September and 190 in October.

They have to know this is hurting sales. Either it’s a serious security problem or…..?
Either way not a fan and wish there were other platforms/options

Sales start slipping in October because people know the Black Friday sales are coming.

I haven't had to put in the security code for a week or so. it's still requesting it for you guys?

Agree. Sales sucks because everyone is waiting for Black Friday. That usually happens before sales promotions.

I haven't had the 2FA for awhile. Not sure if that is because I complained about it or not.

I’m still getting it, and I’d say about 65% of the time, I just exit the website and do something else. Saves me a few bucks each time, as I’m just a bored buyer that would waste a few bucks for fun. But if enough people are like me I see how it could be a problem.

I've complained about it a few times and I still get it. In fact it is worse than ever now both on desktop and mobile. I literally took a walk around the block a couple of days ago and has to login and 2fa after I got back.

Maybe region or ISP has to do with why some people aren't getting it.

Edit-I left my computer for about 25 minutes this morning after posting, left the site open, came back and still had to sign in and 2fa again. I use one computer and one mobile, spectrum connection, no VPN, chrome browser, there is no excuse for this. This is getting worse for some people.

Edit #2-I pushed the issue a little more and finally got a higher level. They finally admitted that it should not be as often as this at this point in time. i gave them the information about my types of device, internet and mobile providers and they have a ticket out with their IT. I hope to get an update by early next week. Keep pushing past the canned response if you are still having issues like I am.

I just tried it again for the first time in a couple of days (I've been exclusively using the app since I don't have to do anything to sign in). I got the 2FA, signed in, then closed the tab (not the browser) and opened a new tab. Got the 2FA again. 15 seconds at the most.

Maybe I'll just try a new browser. I've cleared history, cookies, passwords, and everything else in hopes that that would fix this, but not yet. But maybe there's something lingering in my browser that's causing this, given that some of you have said this problem went away awhile ago.

I login 10-15 times per day on mobile and desktop and have to do the 2FA every, freaking time.

I run 3 accounts on COMC using 3 different browsers. I've been virtually locked out of one of these since the beginning of the Two Factor Authentication. The email address belongs to a family member, and I don't want to bug them 10 times a day asking what the code is.

So, I started a fresh account yesterday with a brand new email address.

I still have to use Two Factor Authentication on my main account and my main alt. However, the new account has not required TFA, other than the first time I logged in yesterday.

I have no idea what the reason is. I haven't monkeyed around with anything to try to figure it out.

The account that works for me is on Duck Duck Go browser, and the email address is at Outlook.com

The accounts I still have to TFA are on Firefox and Brave browsers, and the email addresses are at Hotmail.com

One last update. Three hours after a person higher up got back to me and I gave them my settings, Lo and behold, miraculously no issues on my computer and browser. Contrary to the canned message, this is fixable. Up until today I kept hearing "we have no timeline" and "We have no record of anyone not having to use 2FA"

I worked in call centers for over 15 years, so I hate to go in Karen mode and escalate in any situation, but sadly I had to here. They were not being honest, and it was going to continue indefinitely otherwise.

We shouldn't have to do that, there is no reason for them not to fix it or provide accurate and reliable general service without an escalation. Unfortunately that is the customer service trend for most companies today, garbage for the general masses until a person figures out the secret trick or workaround.

Sorry for the rant. I hope that this gets fixed for everyone.
