Dempsey and Keller are well ahead of him yet.

Goalies are held at a different standard. Keller, Friedel and Howard are never talked about the greatest US soccer player despite playing in Top 4 leagues more than any other field player.

Keller was legitimately in the top 3 keepers in the world at one point. I doubt we will see another US player hold that distinction (any position) in our lifetimes.
Like people not getting why Rodri is the best player in the world, GK's get no love. People are obsessed with goals. It's idiotic really. |

Pulisic’s resume is pretty impressive: runner up for Kopa Award, instrumental part of Champions League winning team, Serie A Team of the Season, 4 time US Player of the Year, multiple World Cup man of the match awards.
Say what you will about US Soccer and his injury history, that is a legit career anywhere. |

That is a bit misleading. He played in 10/14. Had a goal and an assist in the semifinals against Real Madrid and had a crucial assist in the Round of 16 against Atletico. He absolutely was a key contributor on that team.

It's not misleading at all.
He started 4 out of 14 games and played 420 minutes out of a possible 1,170, that's 36%. It was a fantastic season for him no doubt, but 'instrumental' is rather strong. Timo Werner, Jorginho and Azpilicueta were 'instrumental' in the Champions League campaign, so were Havertz and Giroud. However, as they say, victors write the history books ![]() Last edited by YayNJ; 11-21-2024 at 12:26 PM. |

A genuine 1/10 performance from Aaronson this weekend, and it looks like he's going to have to be dropped as his performances recently look like putting our championship run in jeopardy.
He will be 25 at the start of next season, and I've seen no development in his game at all. There's something there, but he doesn't seem to know how to harness it regularly enough to make it at the top, and so far, no manager seems to be able to unlock it either. Running around like a headless chicken is fine when you're a teenager or early twenties, but he's a senior pro now, and sadly having one good game in every six or seven just isn't good enough. |

That's an embarrassing loss to Panama. Someone has to finish one. Disappointment again.

Very weird decision by US Soccer to play this game on a narrow field (it will be sized up for the World Cup) against a team that would bunker, at a 4PM local kickoff time, and tickets priced so that the stands would be maybe 35% full. It's depressing to watch a US National Team game where the attendance looks like a Monday night Miami Marlins game in August.

The KO time will have been made by both US Soccer and the Panama Football association within a semi-rigid timeframe agreed by FIFA/Concacaf so that as many people in the USA and Panama could watch it.
4pm in California being 7pm in NY / 6pm in Panama. It's always the story though for the USMNT though when opposition teams aren't 'fancy'. You pretty much just get MLS hardcore fans going and nobody else. I hate to mention it, but the Orange fool won't have helped with his foul comments about Panama either, they will have been up for this match like no other. They have beat you in your previous three meetings with them now. Last edited by YayNJ; 03-21-2025 at 05:07 PM. |

The US had the better of the chances and controlled the ball the entire time I was watching (2nd half). Just couldn't find a finish. Panama scored on their only shot of the game
