Only thing Lebron has going for him now is beating Kareem's most points scored All Time record.

It's like they are scared he will pass Jordan on List of basketball greats.

and before anyone bashes me, I've ALWAYS said Jordan is the best and everyone else is a distant second.
1. I was meaning lebron himself always having to tell everyone how good he is, not his fans.

2. The argument that MJ guys are just scared lebron is going to pass him is really old by now. Lebron boys have been saying that for years. It's clear that he isn't going to pass MJ. He is reminded of it everywhere he goes (including IN CLEVELAND at the all star game last year lol).

3. I agree with you on MJ being #1 and everyone else is a distant 2nd. Lebron is solidly in the top 10 by even his haters.

Ummm.. yes.. and that’s a pretty big one. Also his ultimate goal is to play along side with his son..wherever that may be. LeBron hates being in Orlando, so that’s my prediction of where Bronny will play.

I understand where this is going but Steph ? Come on, Bron has 4 Finals MVP’s with 3 being on different teams. Curry is still waiting to earn his first.

The 3 different teams isn’t a good thing. Team jumping to play with superstars. It will haunt his legacy forever. Hell I’m sure he’s trying to get with Steph as we speak.

I will agree and I think most everyone will as well that Lebron has to be in the top 5 but like others said its still MJ then everyone else. I think you took some of my earlier responses as I don't think Lebron is great. My comments were more to the fact of the original question posted by the OP as to why Lebrons prices are falling at a higher rate than others.

I think he certainly had a higher run up than others and of course, is having a significant fall too.

That being said, his upper deck auto's are rare as are his numbered cards (especially 2003-2008). When the dust settles and the market finally stabilizes, I think his prices will be fine.

There's a lot of hate on these boards, but he's universally loved as noted by his media presence, and having the number #1 selling jersey for 5+ years straight.

I can't stand the way he acts sometimes on social media, he needs to shut his mouth, but in 10 years or so, he will still likely be in the conversation as one of the best, like it or not.

Where did this narrative come from?

I think people may be surprised to learn Curry, who has signed for twice as many years as Lebron and signed in the Panini mega parallel era has ~150 more unique autos over Lebron. Most of those are random 1/1 autos.

If I gave the list of players who have fewer autos than Lebron it would probably shock most.

There is no supply issue for any Lebron card…

Not really a narrative, just my personal thoughts. I know his rookie year, Lebron had plenty of auto's, but I don't see much from 2004-2008.

Lol so true. So many collectors are prisoners of the moment with no foresight at all.

Calling himself "King James" from a young age tells you something about a person. Then "The Decision" happens and he's once again acting like he's the greatest thing we should all care about. Jumping team to to team to win titles and act as the general manager for each and every team he plays for, fishing for talent so he can win more titles. It's all a bad look for LeBron. Don't even get me started on the flopping.

I'd much rather collect someone with humility who won their titles by leading a singular team to multiple titles. Someone like Tim Duncan, who might be that generations most understated superstar who easily ranks among the greatest to ever play the game.

And he gets a 4-year handicap since Kareem had to go to college for 4 years while Lebron was free to get drafted straight out of high school. So put a big asterisk on that.

Sure, let's apply that to everyone who skipped college and went straight to the NBA--since lebron did it.

Let's put an big asterisk on the scoring stats of Kobe, Tracy McGrady, KG, Dwight Howard, and Moses Malone who ALL skipped high School and jumped to the NBA.

It's absolute lunacy like this that make me shake my head. Just when I thought I'd heard it all.

Did all of them break the scoring record? I mean...it's a valid argument...hater or not.

So Lebron has the longevity to POSSIBLY break the scoring record and only he should get an asterisk? We should punish him for having a long career? This is getting ridiculous.

Let's wipe out the hit record for Pete Rose. He played 24 seasons to Ty Cobbs 22.

Kareem had the longevity too...unfortunately he had to go to college as previously mentioned.

It's not a knock on LeBron...it's an advantage in his favor.

absolutely in his favor!

What would anyone else do? It was obvious he was NBA ready, so why not make the jump. I would have done it in a second.

sshhh, don't be reasonable.

Yes, blackbears, Kareem was not allowed to enter the NBA out of HS.

Quote:
In the early years of the NBA draft, a player had to finish his four-year college eligibility to be eligible for selection. Reggie Harding, who had graduated from high school but did not enroll in a college, became the first player drafted out of high school when the Detroit Pistons selected him in the fourth round of the 1962 draft.[3] However, the NBA rules at that time prohibited a high school player to play in the league until one year after his high school class graduated.[4][5] Thus, he spent a year playing in a minor league before he was re-drafted in the 1963 draft by the Pistons.[6] He finally entered the league in the 1963–64 season and played four seasons in the NBA and American Basketball Association (ABA).[7]

In 1971, the U.S. Supreme Court decision Haywood v. National Basketball Association ruled against the NBA's requirement that a player must wait four years after high school graduation (which in most cases was spent playing in college) before turning professional. This ruling allowed players to enter the NBA draft without waiting four years,[8] provided they could give evidence of hardship to the NBA office.[9] The NBA's rival, the ABA, had already instituted a hardship exemption in 1969
It literally went to the Supreme Court. So it is kind of a big deal, whether you like it or not.

Things are not so black and white, despite how much easier that would make arguments. So if you want to declare Lebron the all-time scoring champ, then that's fair - I simply find it necessary to note that there should be some qualifier because by law, Kareem was not able to enter the league at the same time.
