Yeah, missed putting those in the posting. Just amazing three 3 /75 in one box and yet it takes several boxes just to get a black parallel in regular hobby.

I can't wait to get this box in-hand. Long-term hold.

Just wish I had multiple 582 accounts and/or bought some on the secondary when 582 members were selling theirs for $425-$450.

Figured you just accidentally skipped over it but I'm also not good at math so I didn't want to assume.

I bought 1 box right after they released out of pure FOMO of skipping anything with Wander. Then hurried and bought the other 2 I was allocated after I saw the pack odds yesterday morning. I can't wait to get these in hand. I'd also imagine breakers are going to be flying through this stuff as soon as people start seeing 10+ numbered cards pulled out of every box.

These boxes are loaded. Wished I would have scooped more boxes on ebay before they doubled.

As much as I’d love to rip a box I’d need to to acquire a few more boxes. The lone box I’ve secured thus far is definitely staying sealed

Don't worry, a number of those early eBay sales will result in cancellations.

Keep that lone box sealed for a long time!

You’re right man, no need to beat ourselves up over it

Honestly I’m just happy/thankful I was able to get one box at msrp. I’ll take it.

And this one’s going in the for-my-kids longterm pc pile

Can you actually do that though? I thought if the transaction was cancelled you don't have the ability to leave feedback.

Agreed. Anyone have a good example of a negative that will stick? (i.e., ebay refuses to remove it)

Definitely not. We're just lucky that such a product dropped for 582 members.

Thank you, Topps!

Figure I would just post it here if they cancel on me.

You sure can. I left scathing negatives on the Burrows that I bought during the AFC championship that were cancelled.

Talk about the interaction with the seller and NOT the shipping, item, etc.

I'd mention "shady business practices"

So… I’m embarrassed to say that the lack of interesting new players over the last year meant I didn’t follow 2020 product at all. And now I’m finding myself back wandering in the woods without a compass when considering what I enjoy collecting for Wander.

For those of you who are big on First edition (or I’m cool w/detractors input as well)… what do you think is the catalyst that gives you confidence this goes the route of Sapphire Edition?

I’m once burned, and twice shy, after seeing the staying power of other similar parallel SP online exclusive products, like 3D and mini and Ben baller, etc.

For instance, I’m still kicking myself for buying the PSA10 Acuna bats down 3D when it cost more than a series 2 bats down… the 3D has only appreciated modestly, whereas bats down is up like 5x. Same could be said for all other product not Sapphire

It's tough to compare Sapphire to 1st Ed since one is chrome-based while the other is paper.

That said, I think that Sapphire's rise was partly fueled by its multi-sport appeal, meaning that Cracked Ice - from my understanding (I only collect baseball and hockey) - is popular in Panini designs. Plus, it's a parallel of their flagship chrome brand - the single chrome baseball brand found most in American homes.

Also, originally, Sapphire released as a very limited PR set. While the configuration has changed over the years, I think its initial debut as a limited chrome product coupled with an already popular design fanned the flames just enough to get it rolling.

Then, Ohtani and Acuna hit as PR skyrocketed, so it made the higher PR feel OK and acceptable. After three successful years, it's a staple, at that point. Topps no longer has to promote it, they just need to keep from shooting themselves in the foot - which we know could still happen at any point.

However, I think they're paying close attention to the market reaction. 2020 TCS and TCUS were horribly priced. They came back and lowered the 2021 TCS price enough to make people feel like Topps came to their senses and at least gave people a solid reason to still buy, despite what most feel is a weak checklist again.

So...now back to 1st Ed.

I think most of us realize it was born out of necessity, almost. But Topps stumbled upon a new parallel that was attracting significant attention. It's been almost two years since we first saw 1st Ed and it still seems to be holding value and relevance.

However, Bowman isn't as widespread as Topps Flagship. And they still haven't found a staple parallel for their paper flagship. I'm surprised it took them a whole nother year to try this.

Why will it work?

So far, it seems the market can still absorb/accept new products. I think this window is fast closing, though, and maybe Topps sees it that way too, or maybe not.

1st Ed has enough of a foothold within the market between its successful Bowman releases and Panini's FOTL - again, not a basketball/football guy, so going off what I've read - to gain traction with flagship.

I think the slew of parallels - regardless of how much manufactured scarcity gets bashed within collecting circles - is what practically guarantees Topps Flagship 1st Ed will be a success. They've got a chance to make 1st Ed the most desired flagship parallel, especially since other attempts have largely failed.

Damnit, all this talk about how good the product is has me worried I'm going to open mine. Selling now if you're not huge on Wander (I fall here) or holding sealed if you are are clearly the best options, but that's no fun.

Yah, I have no idea how I won’t open any of these that I buy. The struggle is real

I skimped out on products towards the end of last year with the idea that I'd enjoy ripping 2022 more, but now that it's here the more rational part of my brain is saying to hold this sealed. Still debating it, but will likely rip as it looks too fun.

There's a couple of Wander "Baseball Stars" autos in regular series 1 so my guess is that he will have a similar auto in 1st Edition (looks like sticker autos though).

Not sure if discussed or not but autos are 1:6ish boxes. Better than I was thinking. Adds some more value to this purchase. Now let’s get an auto checklist with Wander on it!

CC's wording says there are auto parallels 1:149 AND baseball star autos 1:149. That has to be just a typo. We had thought autos were only every 25 boxes or so. If that is actually every 3 or 6 boxes, that would be a very nice surprise. It's really funny how consistently Topps forgets to give major selling points of products. It all started with the first Bowman 1st Edition when they didn't mention at all that the parallels were foil instead of just colored paper.

If there are base baseball stars autos 1:149 and parallels (gold, red, platinum), then the odds of getting an auto go down to 1 per 5 boxes. So when is Topps shipping these out? Need to see some box breaks.
