I would agree for the most part but there may be some increased action (Hard to say if it will only be for specific cards). I will be curious to see how low the starting point is by than. I also think some people may be in denial and holding out until than which will assist in some manner for those that are selling now before the bottom falls out (slows down the qty of cards being offered).

At the end of the day we saw cards go from $20 (from Topps) to $2k in less than a month on eBay with limited sales. Some days had increases of 3x the prior day highs, this is not healthy or organic growth folks.

I will tell you what will happen:

1- Thousands of new eye balls will come to Project 2020 most of which have no idea this type of price action is going on right now.
2- Not knowing the current price action, new investors will buy in with the same blind curiosity that folks did 5 weeks ago when they were holding their breath paying $500 for a Trout Ermsy.
3- The folks getting in next week will go through the same thing we are experiencing when the next event happens around card 150-200

RINSE, REPEAT, RINSE, REPEAT

Selling right now is a right move for some because they got in and bit off more than they can chew but for the smart collectors/investors selling into the biggest week of the project simply makes ZERO SENSE.
If you don't think GV will just say the same thing that Geoff did you've got your #Project2020Goggles on.

He'll love the set and love the art, but this is for collectors and not "investors".

Free money. It's like the governments stimulus package during a down market.

This is like a CONCENTRATED product life cycle. Normally, you get to see a sell sheet, see who you might like, which prospects might be sleepers, etc. Then you rip, and either sell then or hold. The hold might take anywhere from a month to 4 years. Everything happens sloooowwwwlyyyy. With 2020, its all instant gratification. Card for sale! Buy it up! Print run! Flipped for 10x profit before it came in the mail! Repeat! No losers! No busts! No players with anger management or substance abuse issues! No spending $350 on a box to pull $8 worth of cards! Then comes the downside which we haven't seen. Hot rookies cool off. Stars age. The hobby moves on. I think "holding the bag" will definitely come into play at some point, but I know a lot of us didn't want to be the ones holding the bag when we could sell Mike Trout Update Rookies for $100. Who is paying that much for a base card in this day of inserts and autographs!

The other thing I've noticed is something that Topps has probably been trying to get a lot of us to do for a while. My spending is about the same, maybe a little more. Some is on ebay, but a good chunk of my cash has gone directly to Topps. No middleman. Much simpler pack out process than a standard product. No redemptions, not even autographed or game used cards. Topps figured out how to get me to pay $20 a card for an unnumbered base card. If they had put these in as a 20 point base card insert in Topps Series 2, I don't think people would be fawning over them as much as we are. Obviously that would have been a waste since there are such great cards in the set! I can see a hobby set similar to this dropping with parallels, autos, inserts, etc. This is the set Topps Gallery always wanted to be.
great to see mudflap02 again! hey buddy! preach on the truth here.

I love some of these cards, hate others, but so what! they are a great idea and i am in! buy what you like, spend what you can afford to lose, and you will be safe.

Probably isn’t worth it to them because of order limits

Why would they come in and pay thousands for cards on eBay when they can just get any of the next 300 they like for $15-20 from Topps?

Yeah, and the justification for the run-up was that these cards were unlike any other baseball cards and transcended the hobby, and thus, sustainable.

Probably depends on what (if any) entry point GV got in at. If he has money to make, he'll pump it. If he doesn't, he won't.

Who knows? I'm talking the set as a whole.

Are there 2,000 collectors out there for those cards at the prices they were at Monday? It should be obvious at this point there aren't.

Will those low PR cards still be +ROI. Yes! How much? Who knows?

Will the cards later in the run be +ROI? Unlikely.
