That’s what the Angels need, more players flirting with the Mendoza line while receiving a 3rd round pick. Did the Tigers front office swing this deal for the Angels? How about :
1. T. Turner
2. W. Smith
3. C. Bellinger

5th round pick.

Dodgers receive : Trout, B. Marsh and the catcher of their choice, mlb or in the Angels minors.

What is up with Maracay, Venezuela ? Miggy, Altuve and now Cartaya with Dodgers. How big is this City.

Turner is on a - year deal, Bellinger is on - Arbitration and Smith is a caveat for completing the deal. Roughly $39 million with a huge increase for next season. Dodgers have a 21 year old prospect at Short Stop ready to fill the void.

Take a player like Trout who is going through the motions and instill motivation while flipping Bellinger and Trout where both players of fans remain in the same City. It may spark Bellinger and the Angels pay Turner while having a Catcher who will be a huge upgrade.

Oh no, Smith is not going to be part of it. We need him until Cartaya is ready.

Mike Trout (back) remained out of the Angels starting lineup for Wednesday's battle against the Astros.

Trout was pulled from Tuesday's game due to upper back spasms. He isn't expected to require a stint on the injured list, but may need a couple of days off to manage the issue. Taylor Ward will slide over and start in center field while Jo Adell gets the call in right field for the Angels on Wednesday night.

The season is over. The Angels have wasted his opportunity to leave a larger legacy.

He doesn't care. If he did he would never have signed that extension.
It was so much money so I can't blame him. He should have went to the
Phillies.

If he stays - Trout doesn’t care about winning
If he leaves - Trout has no loyalty and is taking the easy way out

At this point, anyone outside of selfish Angels fans claiming “locality” as an issue are just plain dumb. Trout resigned, that means he was loyal, end of discussion. He gave the organization his prime years and I’m sure he was give every indication from management that they could build something around him. Guess what, they failed.
I can’t wrap my head around why Angels fans wouldn’t actually want to see him succeed on a legit team and get to the playoffs. He can still be your favorite player 🤷#@♂️🤷#@♂️🤷#@♂️

Agreed!

Trout should be traded to the Dodgers for Max Muncy, David Price and Bellinger.

"Mike Trout is constantly slumping this season!" .370 OBP / slugging .604 / .974 OPS.

"Aaron Judge is the greatest, should run away with the MVP!" .361 OBP / slugging .610 / .971 OPS.

I’m not saying I disagree with you, I just think it’s human nature to have those hot takes whenever superstars do something even remotely controversial. I mean Kevin Durant was called a snake and a ring-chaser and got (and still gets) all sorts of hate for signing with the Warriors AS A FREE AGENT. If Trout were to given request a trade and was sent to a team like the Dodgers or Yankees I would be willing to bet that he’d get that same type of hate

I don’t think it would play out like that. For one, Trout is the most boring superstar in sports today. Don’t think anyone outside of pate cares enough to say anything. But the franchise also sucks, and hasn’t done anything to win during his tenure outside of signing Ohtani. Any objective fan can see that. It’s no different than Soto if he leaves Washington. Trade away your whole team, and expect your superstar to stay?

Lol boring? What? He's one of the best players of all time up to this point in his career. Mike Trout is boring if your only baseball fandom comes from looking at cardboard

If I was Trout it’s time to chase a ring. He never asked to be the best player on a trash team and now he’s probably feeling like if not now then never. Also, must do something to his head being 2nd most popular guy on Angels past two years. Never under estimate what Ohtani Mania may make him feel regardless what he may say. Put yourself in his shoes and think about how you might feel? You can accomplish getting out of Ohtani’s shadow (hard to believe?) and go to a prime contender to at least get to playoffs and beyond. Heck, even if all you care about is how his cards will respond price wise sitting on the Angels roster won’t help them move north but the Yankees or Dodgers or….most definitely will!

Hyperbole made up statements, however, numbers look better when they come on a winning team.

Nah, it’s already one of those pro athletes narratives where it’s poor ‘ole Trout - the best player needs to least contend for one where the Angels have sandbagged his chances for the bulk of his career.

People want to see him sniff at least the playoffs.

Except he is boring and being great doesn't change that. You think people are more excited to watch guys like Juan Soto and Fernando Tatis or Mike Trout?

I'd rather watch Trout.

This whole idea that a superstar player must be a social media darling or have an extremely extroverted personality gets nowhere with me. Your mileage may vary, but superstars to me are made on the field of play (and flashy dances in the batters box don't count toward that).
