Batting. I've been waiting for a PSA 8 to pop up because grade doesn't really matter to me, and it's probably more in line with what I can realistically afford.

Have the opportunity to pick up an Ohtani 2018 Chrome Update Refractor /250 for $825. Wondering if I might be overpaying for it though. Only recent sale was a 9 for $923 on eBay. What does blowout think is a good price for a raw one? Card looks pretty good other than two very, VERY small print lines near the top.

Got a question on the Japanese issued cards. Does anyone know if the jersey cards from those sets are supposed to be game used?

That’s just what he has. Said he bought it at a show last year. Sent me multiple videos and photos of the card. Looks pretty clean to me.

ahhhh. strange indeed.

as for the price, that seems pretty good considering what that wax goes for

That card has a lot of surface issues that don't show up without the right angle. A lot of open pure refractor-color space that shows everything. If you haven't seen it in person, try to get a video of the card tilted back and forth.

He did send me videos of doing that and from what I can see, it looks pretty good. There’s two very very small surface scratches near the top, but other than that it looks very clean.

Sounds like it's worth it, especially if it's for PC

While we're talking about update refractors, I'm surprised the US285 has gained so much ground on the US1. I wonder if this is temporary since he's only batting this year.

I think 700(150)/US1(HMT1)/US285(HMT32) are all fantastic chrome options that have a place in collections. That said, the 700 is already pitching, so the US1 feels a bit repetitive. When you think about it though, Sho's rookie debut came as a batter (in a game he didn't pitch), so the US285 had to be a batting pose - which I guess automatically relegated Topps to make the US1 pitching. Bleh

Just buy all of them

I have a 700 and a 150 raw already, but was considering a slabbed 150 for PC. The pop is crazy though so I started digging into some lower pop cards like the 83t-6. Anyone have thoughts on these more common cards? Or am I better off with something else for the sub $500 price range?

I like the Team Set. Nice batting image, really tough gem, still reasonably priced, relatively speaking.

I have the A-17 already, actually paid over current comps pre-injury, so I consider myself a bag holder on that one.

Numbered would be nice but I'm hoping to find something with a nice image lowish pop (1k) for the money.

You can get a Series 2 gold /2018 for around $400.
