Contemplating a PSA 10 698 Sapphire, but pricing seems to have gone crazy during the season. Do you guys think it’ll go down during the off-season, or is it just too high to ever creep down again? I’m in no rush after all the recent purchases.

It certainly feels like a frenzy. Impossible to predict the future but I would hold off. I'm more patient than most though.

So I’ve got a question about the Bat Down 698.

Did it replace the Smyly 698 completely when Topps placed Acuna in packs or is Acuna and SP in the sense that you can still pull a Smyly in the later packs?

I was trying to read on it yesterday since I didn’t know the actual history of the card. So is it an SP as an insert or an SP as an actual replacement?

Sapphires are a bargain compared to the regular bat down when you take into account print run. That said, I think 698 prices are stupidly high across the board. There's certainly room for them to drop but whether they do or not is a different story.

That offseason fall in pricing seems to get smaller and smaller every year as more people view cards as an investment rather than a hobby.

If you want it, go for it especially since there are so few of them out there.

Could be a pretty big bump in price if he gets 40/40 and/or has a strong postseason.

So if prices do fall during the winter, they miiiight come back to where they are now?

I picked one up recently and plan on holding it. If I need to sell Acuna stuff, I’d much rather sell a bunch of the easily accessible stuff.
