How are auctions for his stuff compared w Feb/ March? Gotta be down 1/4-1/2 I’d assume.

Amazing thing is that he's already at 0.5 bWAR despite the slow start, a 4 bWAR pace I believe even if the struggles continue.

As Dan mentioned in Spring 2023, his baseline is so high even if he doesn't hit well. He's made some improvements on some of his weaker points from last season, hopefully he gets back on track soon with his normal stuff. Even sans the huge power numbers, his base running in particular and his ability to get on base is extremely valuable in real life.

His peak in my Price Index was Feb 19 at $450. As of April 17 he was down to $250. That's from a start of $300 though.

I would not be concerned about a slow start. I would be concerned about shoulder weakness. Did he have a swing change?

Hard to tell, he could be trying to play through an injury, which never seems to work out but sometimes 60% of someone is better than 100% of the replacement. However, that will kill his market in the near term.

Upon mid season last year, his Topps Heritage Real One Auto PSA 10 copies were around $1,000 each. They dropped by the end of the year to around $600 -- his market softened a bit as more came out as well as more were graded.

That same card is now for sale on the B/S/T section for $250 with no bites and similarly around that price on ebay. Pretty dramatic fall really

Yes. It looks to me like he's releasing his top hand too early and not getting the back shoulder into his swing at all. I buy the playing hurt hypothesis.

I think he just needs a trip to the IL to heal his shoulder. Trying to play through the injury isn’t helping anyone.

That is true, but it also seems like he isn't seeing the ball real well. He has been swinging at a lot of bad pitches and taking good ones. All around his at bats have just looked bad.

So in the span of basically a month, he's down -.6 WAR as he's at -0.1 bWAR right now. Which is still incredible for how awful he is hitting right now.

His last SB was April 17. He’s only attempted 1 SB since then. Seems obvious that he is injured. I guess he and the team will just continue to force the issue?
