And all the trolls that post in the forum after something bad happens to Ohtani (like TJ surgery, Ippei scandal etc.).

You would think anyone that loves baseball and collects cards would want to have a least a few Ohtani RC cards. But to each their own.

my modest Ohtani PC!

in general I try for quality over quantity (not that I have huge cards or anything) and these are the 4 that I've held onto so far...

Nice! I'd like to add both Bowman RC eventually, definitely his most iconic cards along with 700.

I don't have anything too expensive, my favorite card is this guy (courtesy of a fellow BO member)

Wowzers - that's a beaut.

Eclipse blew in San Antonio - we had like 95% cloud cover.

Will be coming to Alliance, OH at the end of June...any recommendations for killing a day or two? Not a football guy, but might still wander over to the HOF.

Really can't beat the inaugural release. Unfortunately, it feels like Topps is going to ruin the set even more this year. 2021 was great, 2022 was the most fun, 2023 definitely took a step back in price/value ratio. Always go back to where it started

As someone basically just chasing a Mookie cherry blossom run, what ruined it in the more recent years?

2023:

The 1988 cherry tree design is far less appealing than 1987, which I guess is not all Topps' fault.

The strength in numbers insert set was one that truly nobody cared about.

One of the main draws was supposed to be the WBC insert set, but it doesn't even fall in the top five attractive WBC releases of the year.

Price point was higher, and not available unless you paid shipping from Topps Japan. In the past, it has been available at least on Amazon.jp.

I was just not a fan of last year's flagship design. It doesn't go well with the Asian color and design schemes. That's strictly my opinion but i believe it also resonates in the resale prices.

And not to sound like a hypocrite, but I did buy just one strength in numbers insert card. I believe it was like $90 before grading, illustrating the set's interest level.

I think 2022 was definitely lightning in a bottle as far as value goes.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the cherry blossoms look like this year with the first flagship set to not have white borders since the Japan Edition was released.

Someone mentioned on BO that his interpreter was signing his cards recently. I don't know whether he was being sincere or not.

If someone is going to spend $1K on a card it is a fair question to ask. Do his old and new signatures look like the same person signed them?

It came out recently that Messi wasn't signing his autos.

A four year old could forge the C-8 auto - it's four simple strokes. People are actively seeking his 2018/19 stuff for that reason.

Thanks.

The older autos definitely show more effort. I wouldn't even the care that the newer ones don't look as good if I knew for certain they were legit.

Why does Ohtanis new auto look like a C instead of an S?
